Re: Braces @ 24! Woo hoo!

I totally forgot to wish myself a happy 2nd brace-iversary! I'm so excited! Braces are coming off Monday morning. I went to the regular dentist earlier this week because I thought I had a cavity. It turns out that I have "normal root sensitivity," which means some of the tooth roo...

Re: Broken bracket - need to visit dentist immediately?

I had a bracket pop off when I was about 2 weeks away from my next appointment. I called and they moved the appointment up a week and told me I should be ok for a few days. As long as it's not bothering you you'll probably be fine. I think you should call anyway to double check. They usually want to...

Re: Cleaning the nance button

Ahh yes. Ye ol' nance. I remember it well. I'm not sure how long I had it.. I think I blocked it out of my memory lol, but I did write about my entire experience with it in my story somewhere. The first few days after I got it (which was a weekend so no ortho to help me :( ) the roof of my mouth got...

Re: braces and thumbsucking

Sooo a big (secret) part of me getting braces again was that I desperately wanted to quit my thumb sucking (braced at 24, now 26). My close close family knew and I'm sure my husband of a year knew, even though I did my very best (yeah right) to hide it. I had managed to kick the habit the first time...

Re: What does a normal bite look/feel like?

I started out with a 12mm overjet and throughout the last 2 years my bite has been different at every adjustment. My bite was even overcorrected to the point of having an UNDERbite!! I never thought THAT was possible! Everyone's teeth move differently so it's a little bit of a guessing game in a way...

Re: Braces @ 24! Woo hoo!

Another adjustment yesterday. I'm not even entirely sure what the ortho did even though I heard everything he said... and my teeth are kind of numb/sore today. I know that he adjusted something with my powerchain on top to close the final little diastema I have from my extraction gap on the left sid...

Re: Wire sticking out at the back - normal?

Your wire poking out the back is somewhat normal. Like TMJJILL said, it's either because they didn't quite snip it off enough or it's due to your teeth moving (let's hope it's that!!). My ortho told me to call whenever that happens because the longer you let the wire dig up the inside of your cheek,...

Re: Hi! Finally its happening ;)

Good luck, Tin Tooth! There are a lot of us around the same age here on the board (I'm 26 too :) ) so we can definitely commiserate. I would say subs are going to be difficult on day 3 but you might be able to pick it apart and eat little pieces at a time. As far as people asking about them, I find ...

Re: Braces @ 24! Woo hoo!

Yup, powerchain and elastics 24/7.. no cheating! Everyone's teeth move at a different rate though, and back at the beginning I thought a year and a half sounded like forever but it's actually gone by really, surprisingly fast. Once you see how fantastic your mouth looks while the gaps close you'll b...

Re: Elastics

I usually get 2 bags so I can keep one in my purse and one at home. For the most part, I change mine whenever I have to take them out of my mouth.. that usually means they've been in a few hours anyway. I think there are like 100 elastics in one of those little bags so you could change them more tha...

Re: Braces @ 24! Woo hoo!

For them to completely close? The gap on my right side took around 15 or 16 months (it was so gradual that I'm not sure when it closed exactly) and the left side took about 18. For me it was those last couple millimeters that seemed to take the longest but I think that's just because the movement wa...

So exciting! I bet you're smiling nonstop too!

My estimate is 24 months, which means I should be looking at about 6 more months (fingers crossed!)
