Elastic placement

I have ceramic brackets on top and metal on the bottom. As of today I have to wear a rubber band from my upper canine to my lower teeth and when I went to change it, I couldn't remember if the elastic should just go over the hook on the upper bracket or should it also go around the bracket? I tried ...

Re: Anti-inflammatories inhibit tooth movement?

I take NSAIDS daily for years and my teeth have moved a whole bunch since I was braced 8 months ago. My ortho seems satisfied with my progress.

Re: Ceramic or Metal?

Johnny - Why do you wish you went all metal? Luckily my Orthodontist is pretty laid back and she wouldn't charge me extra if I decided later on I wanted to switch to metal. If the ceramic was an extra charge I would have definitely done all metal! :P In my case, the metal brackets I have on the bot...

Re: Ceramic or Metal?

I have ceramic on top and have been wishing I went with all metal.

Based on some of the responses in this thread am I correct in assuming that my ortho will let me change bracket type during treatment? I pretty much thought I was stuck with the ceramics for the duration......

Re: New here, having trouble with wires

When you go to your ortho next time have them put a rubber guard over the wire--it's a little rubber tube that slips over the end of the wire and will make things more comfortable back there. I'm having the same problem now. When I went for my first adjustment the tech forgot to put the tube back on...

Re: Ceramic brackets staining?

I think brushing 6 times a day is a bit excessive. You can wear down your tooth enamel that way. I think once after every meal is fine; swishing with water in between. I drink dark soda every day, and my brackets have never, ever stained. Cathy I eat about 6 times a day so I usually brush that many...

Re: Ceramic brackets staining?

I'm just using regular ol' mouthwash-- the store brand equivalent of Scope.

Re: Ceramic brackets staining?

I have self ligating brackets and it's the actual bracket that is staining-----not the front surface of the bracket but the outer edges/outline. It's probably not noticeable to other people unless they're looking closely but it's making me neurotic!

Ceramic brackets staining?

This is driving me nuts. I thought these things weren't supposed to stain? Within a few days of getting clear ceramics put on the top, the edges/outline of the four front brackets had turned a lovely brownish color. I had my first adjustment last week and the tech shined them up again with something...

Re: Do you think orthos give the standard of Two Years just

I'm not sure what you mean by this question. From my understanding the fee is the same no matter how long your treatment takes.

Re: Another metal vs. clear question

I got ceramic on the tops and metal on the bottom. My ortho said they're equally good but I'm almost wishing I had gone metal all the way for comfort reasons--- the ceramics seem to be a bit bigger and bulkier than the metal.

Re: Stained teeth (due to attachment of braces)

I was going to ask a similar question. I had metal brackets put on the bottom teeth last week and a couple of days ago I noticed that the area above the brackets appears darker. Is this a shadow or some sort of optical illusion caused by the brackets? I find it hard to believe that there has been an...

Re: Sleeping/touching face at night

You're welcome!

I was just thinking....you may want to try those strips that go on the nose to keep your passages open. They do work....they don't seem to fit my nose correctly though and tend to come off a lot so I don't use them often.
