Sliding genioplasty Sept 2011 - now have pain in chin
I know I should call my surgeon but he's 3 hours away in another city so whilst I get something sorted with his receptionist, I just wondered if anyone has experienced pain in their chin 2.5 years after a sliding genioplasty? It's a weird tight/painful feeling on the bottom-left of my chin. I'm conc...

Re: Surgical gaps either side of canines
Hey there - I didn't actually get anything done in the end, the gaps just closed by themselves! It took about a year. I have another worry now though 2.5 years on - I bit something hard on holiday 2 weeks ago and since then when I eat my canine and tooth beside it cracks - it doesn't feel loose but ...

Re: Were you physically sick after your jaw op?
Hiya, I had bimax surgery in Liverpool back in 2010 on NHS. I was sick after surgery but the other three girls on my ward weren't. I was told I puked so much because so much blood went into my stomach after surgery and it was a 7 hour op! So you can imagine the amount that came up - but - to be hone...

Loose tooth 2.5 years after SARPE?!
I had bimax surgery in August 2010. All healed okay in the end. I had my palate expanded in three places - front four teeth were sawn off then replaced with bone graft from my hip. I've just been on my honeymoon and drunkenly tried to shave bits of coconut off the tip of one with my front teeth - ev...

Sharp pain when laughing - upper jaw screws?
I had bimax with palate expansion surgery in August 2010. Since then a genio and rhinoplasty. All healed up nicely. But recently I noticed occassionally when I laugh, I get a sharp pain under my nose and and a stiff feeling - as if something has locked. I can't really describe it properly. I'm paran...

Re: Stiff mouth and wonky bottom lip after sliding genioplas
Hello,
Oh I'm not judging the results - I know it's normal with the swelling but admittedly the crookedness of it threw me
It's slightly bettet than it was last week but I guess I'll just have to accept it for my holiday. Oh well!

Stiff mouth and wonky bottom lip after sliding genioplasty?
Hello, I know this is probably to do with swelling but I had my sliding genioplasty done 2 weeks ago and in the past week I have been unable to close my mouth properly - proper straining to do it and so end up with my mouth open looking a bit stupid. And the other thing is my usually full lips are t...

Midlines off one-year post-op, still in braces!
Hello, I had my bimax jaw surgery with palata expansion last August. I've just had a sliding genioplasty and rhinoplasty and am due for my braces off next Friday! BUT - my midlines seem to have shifted a fair bit in the past couple of months and I do not want to have to wear braces any longer and ju...

Re: Surgical gaps either side of canines
Thanks Chefflaco88 - that sounds good. Will they do that in the UK do you know? I will find out if private dentists here do those. I squirm at the idea of them filing down my tooth, especially my canine which I use to rip meat with ha ha! I will have to get something sorted though as it's pretty obv...

Re: Surgical gaps either side of canines
Wow thanks for the replies this has helped because I thought I was alone (I guess we always think this way until we post on this brilliant board) Bond filler you say? I'll look into it that and the veneers then. I'm happy to pay for the veneer if it lasts longer - they don't have to file down the to...

Re: Surgical gaps either side of canines
Hi Huggypillow, Not nosey at all lol! It's good to be asked questions I might not have thought about myself. They did fit a power chain but it didn't really do much. It's kinda stuck that way it seems. You're right though I might regret it but because it's been a year post-op already, I don't know i...

Surgical gaps either side of canines
Hello, I had bi-max jaw surgery with palate expansion a year ago and all is good now after having to have one plate removed, etc. I'm due to have my braces off September 30th - it will have been nearly 4 years wearing them (joke) and although my bite still isn't 100% perfect, I've said I don't care ...

Sliding genioplasty - how long to smile?
Hello, I posted another message a couple of weeks ago about my sliding genioplasty due on Sept 14th. I have a holiday to Croatia booked October 8th and was told I should be okay for that nearly 4 weeks post-op. I just wondered another thing - how long until I'll be able to smile properly? I've heard...

Re: A year since bimax - still stiff/numb?
Hi RMF7825 - I try to do those Wallace and Gromit type stretches but I'm not really sure what I can do? I sit at a desk all day with my headphones in so don't speak much until I get home :-) I have noticed more sensation coming back in my bottom lip in the past 2 weeks but it could be because I wrot...

Re: How long to recover from sliding genioplasty?
I just realised I didn't post that I'd be having a rhinoplasty done at the same time! D'oh! But I know that's about 2 weeks to be recovered (not fully obviously) but enough to return to work.
