Re: MARCH 2011 BUDDIES

Hi Juneyer, I'm post op day 12 now and have only just this morning noticed SOME feeling back in my lower lip/chin - but only a small amount. My chin last night felt like I had dragged it along concrete - not pleasant - and my lips feel dry and parched - yet everything looks fine in the mirror, I'm a...

Re: MARCH 2011 BUDDIES

Thanks bracedfaced! I've posted a before pic below - it is the morning before my surgery. Can you access this link - http://www.facebook.com/album.php?aid=643483&id=685030310&l=41e84bff3a - there are a few pics of my before and recovery! I had bilateral sagittal split advancement osteotomies...

Re: MARCH 2011 BUDDIES

Haha, I was talking to the nurses in the recovery room! Can't shut me up that easily ;) Had a good proper look at the inside of my lower lip last night and OH MY GOD. It looks horrendous. It has all of these dents and small lumps all over it from where my braces have been digging in to it. But becau...

Re: MARCH 2011 BUDDIES

Hey Juneyer, I know exactly what you mean about your lip. My bottom lip feels like it is peeling/wind-burnt at the moment but when I look in the mirror it looks fines. When I move my lip it feels more like a pins and needles tingle which I assume means the feeling is start to return. My chin still f...

Re: Job Hunting with Braces

Hi Sunnylocks, I've had absolutely no problem at all. I am moving cities, and went and visited a whole of recruitment agencies and they weren't phased at all. I have just recently been offered a role as a Personal Assistant with a company I applied to as well - in all my braces glory!! I always just...

Re: Random General Questions Post-Op

Hmmm weird... I wasn't told no straws and in fact they supplied me with them in hospital!! I know in the past I haven't been able to use them when getting wisdom teeth out as they remove the blood clot leaving you with a painful dry socket (which I ended up getting - horrible!!!). But as far as I kn...

Re: MARCH 2011 BUDDIES

Thanks guys, I'm feeling great! Finally managed to sleep in my bed last night rather than the lazyboy and that has made a world of difference this morning. I'm not feeling quite so fragile, and managed to walk the 30minutes to work by myself, rather than having someone come with me (got a bit nervou...

Re: MARCH 2011 BUDDIES

Hey everyone, One week today since I had my surgery - man has it gone fast. Had a check up today with my orthodontist (just a quick look, no adjustments thankfully!!) and also with my surgeon. He replaced my rubber bands to longer ones and also took out the stitches from the outside of my cheeks - Y...

Re: MARCH 2011 BUDDIES

Hehe, the kitchen is my favourite room in the house, so I love being back in there :) although it is hard being around food and not being able to eat it :( I made chicken soup last night - and it had spinach and purple carrots in it ... by the time I had blended it up it looked incredibly inedible -...

Re: MARCH 2011 BUDDIES

Haha I know what you mean. I keep giggling and have to hold the sides of my jaw to try to contain the smile as I'm scared I'm going to bust something! Completely paranoid of course. My partner keeps sniggling at me because I look so serious asking normal questions, but I can't help it!! I am current...

Re: Last meal before surgery! (Anyone else a foodie?!)

I thought about my last meal for weeks before my surgery.

We went out for curry on my last night (probably the worst thing to have, haha). An enormous butter chicken, garlic naan and onion bhaji - was amazing!

Thankfully I didn't regret it the next day! :)

Also - went for a 40 minute walk yesterday and I swear my swelling has gone down even more by the time I got home. Amazing what a bit of exercise can do!

Re: MARCH 2011 BUDDIES

Hi all, I'm on post-op day 7 now and am feeling pretty good. I've managed to have two really good sleeps in a row and have progressed from complete liquid to porridge, which is a relief!! I even managed to get back into the kitchen yesterday to make some homemade chicken soup and scrambled eggs for ...
