Re: Wisdom Tooth Removal, Orthodontist only wants 3 taken ou
I've had done similar to what they are talking to you about. My lower right wisdom tooth came in and split the molar in front of it. My Ortho had the surgeon remove 3 wisdom teeth (top two & lower left) an the broken molar. Now my Ortho is going to move the wisdom tooth into the place of the ext...

Re: Top and bottom ceramics different - why??
Anyway... Any idea approx how long into treatment do you start using the thicker archwires? Thanks everyone!! Xx I'm about 4 mo's into treatment now and have yet to have my archwires upgraded to thicker ones. They haven't done anything w/ my bottom one yet and my top they have just added a spring i...

Re: Had braces fitted today
You may just be lucky, some people don't have any discomfort. However, for myself, I didn't start feeling it until the day after being braced.

Re: Molar Buildups. For how long?
At least yours are blue! Mine are pink . . . :yuck: I've had several people ask how I got the dentist to put in colored fillings. :-+ They only bothered me for 2 or 3 weeks w/ closing my mouth & eating. They are still there, however they are ground down a good bit and don't bother me at all. I t...

^ This. None for me either.Lynette wrote:I didn't have any speech difficulties at all
Keep a glass of water w/ you to take a few sips while speaking. If your mouth is sore/cut from the braces put some wax on a couple of non-noticeable brackets and you should be fine.

Re: Something I've learned from wearing braces....
Great post! I've only had one person comment negatively about my braces (full metal, top/bottom). But she's a b***h anyways, so I didn't take it personal. A few people did say that, since my front brackets are closer to the gum line, it was hard to notice I have braces until I gave a bigger than nor...

Re: 2nd Adjustment
I got 4 of those hooks on the inside of my teeth today. It is for my cross elastics. Are you wearing an elastic? No elastics yet. Just 2 pieces of what they called a zing (elastomeric thread) string. One from the last loop on the implanted chain to my arch wire. One from the middle loop of the impl...

2nd Adjustment
Just went for my 2nd adjustment today. No wires replaced yet again. However, they undid half the top wire to place in a spring where my baby canine was extracted. I'm guessing to help widen the gap for the Adult canine that needs to be pulled into place. https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-2WzEIizbU7...

Re: Is this normal or strange behavior for an orthodontist?
My ortho's a friendly chap as well. It's one of the reasons I chose his office. I hate dentists, doctors, etc and his whole staff made me feel very comfortable. I've never seen him do anything that'd suggest more than just being friendly to any of his patients though. However, I do catch one of his ...

Re: New approach- non extraction orthon by Dr Derek Mahony
This program does not ignore people that do benefit from extractions. It is a program that specifically identifies the beauty of having to not get extractions. I was considering getting my teeth out prior to braces, though I saw Dr Mahony -whom informed me that it is possible to get treated without...

I've stopped trying to eat sandwiches, esp. ones on rolls, subs or hard bread. I'll eat the innards and leave the bread on the plate.
