Re: what supplies should I buy before getting braces?

Definitely buy a bag to put your supplies in like katiemcb09 said, if your othro doesn't give you one already. It really is handy so you will never lose it and it's easy to just take it to the bathroom and do all your cleaning without having to hold onto so many things. Yeah anything that has to do ...

Re: Premolar Extractions Tomorrow!

It's been 5 days since my extractions and on my lower right extraction hole, there's like this white thing growing on it! On Thursday when I got my wires put on, there was a tiny bit of white on there, and my ortho said it's healing nicely. But now, there's like a LOT of white on the gum. I hope it'...

Re: what supplies should I buy before getting braces?

I would buy some mouthwash if you don't already have it and I would lay off the whitening kinds. I don't know if it's been proven or not, but if it does whiten your teeth and you have brackets on, when you take it off, you might have discolored teeth because the teeth underneath the bracket won't be...

Re: Moving what do I do???

Are you moving out of state or just out of the city? My ortho has patients that still fly in from out of state to see her for their treatment, maybe your ortho can work out a schedule with you. It's very possible, the only thing would be your adjustments would probably be farther apart than usual. Y...

Re: 3 wires to close gaps

@watchingtherain oh you have something similar too? I thought it was something rarely used because I've never seen this done on my friends or when I looked around the forums. I think I remember my ortho saying that as well. Have you seen any progress?

Re: Premolar Extractions Tomorrow!

@katiemcb09 thank you for your link! I will definitely check it out. I started brushing now cause it was just too unbearable to go without brushing my teeth. But I'm being veryyy careful not to touch my extraction areas with the toothbrush. It's really awkward brushing with a gap though. And good id...

Re: Solution to clenching my jaw at night?

I second what Snowglobe said. I have some pretty annoying jaw issues too and the best way to relieve it is to put like a warm hot patch on it. The other thing I do is massage the joints like you would your temples for a headache. Helps a bit. For your neck and shoulder pain, the thing that works the...

Re: Braces + RPE, now I'mgetting 4 wisdom teeth removed -NER

Sorry for my ignorance, but what is RPE. I got all 4 of my wisdoms out about a month into my treatment. I'm not sure if your oral surgeon will do what mine did, but they cut the side of my gum rather than the top of my gum. And that was a bit of a pain because getting the gauze in and taking the gau...

Re: 3 wires to close gaps

@poppy123 - I've never seen this done on other people's posts and stuff either when I was looking around. @tianna - hm, I'm not sure if it's an elastic chain, it looks just like the 1st wires we put in when we get braces - the thin light ones. But I'm with you on the food issues. It's really tough b...

3 wires to close gaps

So I got my 2nd premolars extracted (all 4) on Tuesday, and just got my wires put back in today. Boy were my teeth really sore and sensitive when my ortho was putting the wires in. I actually teared for the first time and I've had my braces on for a while now. And interestingly, she put 3 wires from...

Re: Premolar Extractions Tomorrow!

Oh I see! Thanks for explaining that. And so glad IPR was an option for you ^^ So I extracted the teeth today at 2PM and finally got the bleeding to stop at 9PM. Still a bit of blood, but at least it's not like overflowing as it was before. I was wondering, how long does it usually take for the woun...

Re: Premolar Extractions Tomorrow!

Ah, so you took out only 1 tooth? I didn't discuss that with my ortho, though I thought we had to take out 4 in order for the midline to be straight and for everything to be symmetrical? And I went through the same as you, there's no way I could do IPR. :( Thank you for your positive feedback on my ...

Wow! Your teeth are amazing - so white and so straight! Love seeing the progress of your teeth, thank you for sharing that with us! Your smile is really nice too and so lucky of you to have no extractions done. Congrats!

Re: Getting braces next week

Good luck on your treatment Chris! I'm going to be getting my premolars extracted tomorrow though I've had braces on for 8 months now, but it's good to hear you had a painless experience!

18 months doesn't seem bad at all. What's your case like? Overbite/Underbite/Openbite/etc?
