A lot of people wander in and out, too, it seems, so those of us on the very long side may not stick around on the forum until the very end, just because, well, after awhile you sort of forget they're there. ;) I'm just about at three years now, but I'm being estimated at another three. My fiance's ...

I have no idea about NHS, but the big thing that happened to me, aside from the money issue, was that my new orthodontist (as well as another I just did a consult with) both came to the conclusion that there were serious problems with the way the old one was doing things, so I ended up with much lon...

I moved, but that's not what's requiring all this--if things had been going as they should have, the new ortho would have just finished things off, because my old one claimed I only had a couple months left to finish moving my formerly-impacted canine down. Needless to say, I've seen pictures now of...

My presumption at this point is that the old orthodontist screwed up more than a little, but also that since I'm 26 things aren't moving as fast as she originally thought so it was destined to be somewhat longer than my original estimate of two years to begin with. The one thing we're sure got messe...

Three years in, and...
I'm getting debanded. And then immediately rebanded. The day after Tax Day, about one month short of three years since I started, I go in for two hours to have all my old hardware removed and new stuff put on. The new ballpark figure is 27 months, plus probably two extractions and possibly surgery t...

Get the second opinion, ASAP. I really should have done that with mine, I might have saved myself a couple years if I'd gone to talk to someone else when it became evident that things were not going as my first ortho had indicated they would. Switching in the middle is a pain, but not nearly so much...

A very belated update: Well. The second consult went really well, in terms of my relationship with the guy--he's terrific--but same verdict: it would never happen within the old ortho's estimates, and she was evidently planning on leaving a bunch of things unfixed. Going to be another three grand or...

I was going every three weeks for quite awhile, which was really pretty hard, but was mostly to retie the elastic on my impacted canine. Thankfully, the office was really close to where I was living at the time. I would be *so* happy to be able to go in once every two months! I don't think I've ever...

I just bought a new electric toothbrush--from drugstore.com, in fact. I looked at the Ultreo, and finally went for the Oral-B that was $90 instead. Price matters, obviously. And besides that... they can make all the claims they want, but how do any of us know that it actually works so well as to war...

I never got carded until I got braces. That's been a little strange. I'm not sure why this never happened to me before, since I was in my early twenties and I *should* have been--I'd offer my ID anyway, generally, but I never got asked for it. Now I get asked for it every time. I was really self-con...

Got another consult appointment, but I can't get in there until the 18th of September... at least it's something, and this place has specifically said they're going to contact my old orthodontist before they even see me, so I think that might be a good sign. I haven't gone this long without an adjus...

I'm hoping to get in to one other place. There are only three local options that I've found so far, and one of them doesn't treat adults--argh! I'm definitely not getting any teeth pulled without talking to someone else, obviously, although he was... very thorough about explaining why that had to ha...
