Re: New Here
Hey, This happened to me a lot so they put a 'stopper' on one side of my mouth. Not sure what the technical term is. Just ment that my teeth wouldn't close down as far and thus didn't knock the wire. Bit of a pain having to get used to only one tooth meeting in your mouth but it did stop the brace b...

Have you heard of this?? Just moving a section of jaw?
So I've just had my meeting with the surgeon. Shes decided that she can't move my bottom jaw as there isn't enough bone (i have a small jaw) and also my nerve runs very close. Instead she will move my top forward and my bottom six teeth forward to make up for my pretruding chin. The gaps will then b...

Re: Your Thoughts Please
It all depends on who you see i think.... This is my experience! I had a new dentist who asked me if anyone had offered me jaw surgery to correct my bite. I said no but i was interested. She said, 'well its a big deal...its like being hit in the face with a bus so my suggestion would be to go away a...

Re: Uk Patients
Hey UK people! I'm also having double jaw surgery in the UK on NHS. I'm in the northwest, 25 and female. Had my braces on for nearly two years now and have my meeting with the surgeon on the 28th of this month. Apparently the waiting list for surgery is around a month so i'm hoping I get booked in f...

Re: Getting jaw surgery in the UK - advice needed
Hey guys, Everyone in here seems to have had braces on for ages. I'm nearly on two years now and have a meeting with my surgeon on the 28th of this month. I'm worried that i will also get my op date canceled etc as mentioned above. I'm planning my work and living arrangements around this. My ortho s...

Re: Nasal blockages and jaw deformities
This is interesting.... I always feel the need to blow my nose/sniff as i feel a bit blocked and i always breathe through my mouth. I nearly always wake up with cotton mouth and occasionally dribble haha. I also struggle to get a good nights sleep and generally wake up feeling drained. It would be a...

Re: How long off work?
Hey, I'm in the UK also, based up north. I'm having my meeting with the surgeon on the 28th of this month. I've been told the waiting list is around a month so i presume I will be having the op in April? When are you scheduled to have it done? Be nice to know others going through it at the same time...

Re: Anyone else have bite bockers?
Hey, I think this is what I had but mine was white. They put it on one right tooth then swapped it for a left tooth in the last couple of months, which was weird after i'd had it on the right for ages. Was like learning to eat again! I had it to stop my top teeth breaking/knocking off the bottom bra...

Best food processors in the UK??
I'm currently looking at buying a food processor as i'm going to be having surgery within the next two months. I'd like to get a decent one thats not too expensive (naturally) I've looked at reviews....but lets be honest, you guys are the best people to ask as you've used them lots!! People from oth...

Re: What about sneezing?
Great question...i was thinking this too...but also because i'm always sniffing and blowing my nose when I don't really need to. Been like that for years, since i had glandular fever at 16! I'm nearly 26 now! I hope this actually makes that habbit go away....a month or so of not being able to sniff ...

Re: Is this a bad result?
Whats the deal with ortho/surgeons being so harsh at the consultations?! I had this same issue, basically told me i had a 'really bad profile' that spoilt me and that he had someone similar that used to get the words 'witch' shouted at her in the street. This amoungst other things. Apparently I had ...

Were you physically sick after your jaw op?
I'm a little worried.... Basically, after I had my wisdom teeth taken out in 2011 I was sick when i went home...i presume from the anesthesia. They were compact and pretty deep down so I had to have them surgically removed. This for me was the worst bit...feeling like i do when i'm travel sick (urgh...
