Re: Molar Buildups. For how long?

I have had my build ups for 4 months now and I loathe them!! My ortho said they can be taken off at anytime but that it would be "wise" to keep them in as long as possible. I have noticed that I am grinding them really badly in my sleep and it actually feels like the build ups have damaged...

25 and almost 2 months braced

Hi all, My name is Emma and I am a 25yr old from New Zealand. I have been braced for almost two months now and have my second adjustment this Thursday. I am hoping to have my braces on for a maximum of 12months, and then into retainers (permanent on bottom and hawley on top). I have been amazed at h...

Re: I will do this!

Hi Klobird, just responding to your question on BiP's thread about the Forsus, no I don't have to have that at all thankfully..... I just have these awful build ups on my first molars but they are finally starting to wear down which is great! I think I have been quite lucky in the fact that I didn't...

Re: Finally on!

Hi! Ha I take my knife and fork almost everywhere nowdays, it's great but I do feel pretty stupid most of the time  I love Japanese food but have been putting it off since I had my braces put on.... not too sure how that would look in public? Haha! I too have had some rubbing at the back and on...

Re: Finally on!

Hi BiP and Klobird! Sorry i haven't been on here for a wee while..... I don't currently have a story, I am not the best story teller and might just bore everyone  Lately I haven't had any trouble with my braces other than days of random pain and yesterday they started to rub at the back like cr...

Re: Finally on!

Hi Bip, Well what a drama! I had to go back to the Ortho this morning as the new wire had come out of the back brackets on the left hand side and the wire had twisted around and was imbedding itself in my right cheek! This morning they had to open all the doors/gates on my brackets and then remove t...

Re: Finally on!

Hey Bip! I had my first adjustment this morning and I didn't think much would happen either as I have only had the braces for four weeks, but...... they changed my top wire to a stronger one! And the bonus is that the wire is so much thinner than the last one, and because my teeth have moved so much...

Re: Finally on!

Hi Beauty is Pain! So nice to see another Kiwi all the way from Auckland on here :D I have enjoyed reading your story so far and hope you keep updating us all! I asked my Ortho's office about getting a Waterpik and they said they would have to order one in for me and it would cost $255!! In the end ...

Re: Getting braces next week

You are very lucky that you have suffered little pain! I generally have a really high tolerance for pain, but I was in agony for the first 6 days...... first the tightness and headaches and then I had wires that were too long at the back and made huge holes/sores inside my cheeks!! I thought it was ...

Re: 24, new to braces and forum :D

Hi MrsSailor, I had the veneers to correct some misalignment and also to cover my chalky enamel on my front four teeth, so one tooth in particular was rather fat with composite veneer. I asked my Ortho if it could be removed and he decided to do it before the brackets went on. I have discovered just...

Re: 24, new to braces and forum :D

Hiya MrsSailor, I also had composite veneers/bonding on my front four teeth, but my Ortho removed these prior to my brackets going on..... but I would assume that your Ortho knows they are there? So he/she must have a reason for keeping them on :) I hope you are not in too much pain, I was braced 6 ...
