Re: OK--This was not the plan!
I got my braces at 55yr. I am 62 now and even though it was awkward having braces at 55yr, it was still the best adult decision I ever made. I want to encourage you newbies and older adults thinking about getting braces--IT IS NEVER TOO LATE!!

Re: How different is life with a straight, white smile?
Life is amazing with straight, white teeth! People even notice and comment--"you have a nice smile" etc. I love it and it was worth every day of the 2 years I was in braces starting at age 55!

Re: Forsus Appliance!!!
I had the Forsus...it's really uncomfortable getting food stuck where you can't get to it without putting your finger in your mouth...which is weird when your eating in a restaurant. By now you know it doesnt really hurt and is put on real fast. It pokes your bottom lips out. I hated that. The worst...

Re: Getting a forsus appliance - so many questions!
I have been out of braces for a couple years now..just came to browse..I was terrified if getting the Forsus. It was annnoying but not horrible..the most annoying thing with mine was that some technical problem was ALWAYS going on. Metal parts coming apart etc. After 3 months I got fed up and told t...

Re: OK--This was not the plan!
Soooo....just an update....my Essix retainer lasted just over a year. It's been cracked and I have to go in and get fitted for the Vivara retainer (and pay for it--another $400). I guess those last a lifetime, I think. Anyway, it's back for molds and the ortho poking around in my mouth again. Just w...

Re: Dr. says I cant fix overjet without surgery. alternativs
I also had a 10mm overjet. My overjet was corrected without surgery. The ortho used a Forsus appliance which looks worse than it is (mine had a lot of mechanical issues which made it hard to have, but other than that it wasnt so bad). I got my braces off over a year ago....having full on Damon all m...

Re: Braced at 52 with Innovation for overbite/overjet
The cleaning process is always going to be a pain in the ass.....once you figure it out, it will just be the time it takes that is the most annoying. I have learned new lifelong teeth cleaning habits, and wish I had always been so good to my teeth. Thank you for your kind comments.....you would be s...

Re: After braces comment....
They are a pain in the ass...but you will get used to them...you still may not like them but it gets better...After a while you will be able to take care of them like its old hat. It will probably always be a countdown but you WILL get there!

After braces comment....
It has been a long time since I last blogged. For those of you who asked, my retainers are good now and I wear them only at night which seems to work just fine. I just wanted to update and encourage all of those who are in the braces process--just starting, in the middle, toward the end.... HANG IN ...
