Surgeon age

Is there any information about surgeon age and complication rates for orthognathic surgery? More specifically, are people getting the same types of results with older surgeons or younger surgeons?

orthodontic decompensation - how long??

So my question concerns how long it takes an orthodontist to get you prepared for surgery. I do realize everyone is different, but do orthodontists have an idea of when you will be ready, or do you just have to wait (and wait and wait and wait) until they are satisfied with where things are? (yeah I...

Re: PLEASE HELP

So sorry to hear about this. Have you asked about physical therapy? I would be surprised to learn that simply not moving your jaw post surgery actually leads to a permanent limitation of your range of motion.

Re: Question about the use of TADs

I have TADs and the one on the buccal right side came out three times before they took hold. The one on the left buccal side started to come loose, but the periodontist was able to screw it back in. They wiggled out and it was a bit painful each time, and the last time I had an infection for which t...

Re: Can TADs(in mild-moderate cases) resolve lip incompetenc

I hope my response isn't interpreted as a troll.... You are best off asking someone who has spent a large portion of their life studying oral anatomy and even maybe gone through the procedure of installing TADs. Your question is highly specific and it sounds as though you have some skepticism about ...

I met with Dr. Stohle - nice guy and I got the impression he is confident in his abilities. He also hit upon all of my concerns without me having to ask about them including esthetics.

He's done orthognathic surgery thousands of times and it is pretty much all he does.

Your maxilla is too small, and you have an asymmetry in your lower jaw.

Congratulations! I was also told yesterday that I was preapproved. It really feels good to know insurance is doing exactly what they are supposed to be doing.

Re: Plate has broken - second op needed!

Is it the actual rigid fixation that has broken, or has the screw popped out of your jaw?

I'm worried about this myself as the TADs on my right side kept on popping out. It only succeeded after the third attempt!

Re: Hollywood Genioplasty

You're in Hollywood - plastic surgery capital of the world. If you are doing it for aesthetic reasons, then I would start with a plastic surgeon. He will definitely examine your occlusion and refer you to an orthodontist if you need it. I initially sought out having a genioplasty and contacted a pla...

Re: Surgery/Standard of Care

There are a lot of orthodontists out there that are professionals and they may tend to gloss over the details because they have seen your case thousands of times. You should feel free to ask questions, but keep in mind that everybody's anatomy and response to treatment is different. My orthodontist ...
