Black triangles after braces
Those who had black triangles after braces, did you leave it as is or did you do any cosmetic touchups to the area? Due to gum recession on the lower front, I have a number of these and after my orthodontic treatment I am feeling awkward showing my smile because they are quite visible whenever I ope...

Re: Tonsillolith
is it common to get these more frequently after braces (especially during the time period when wearing your retainers) if so, what causes this if your diet and oral care hasn't changed much prior to braces? Thanks!

How long does it take for molar band spaces to close?
I'm 5 months into wearing my retainers and all but one molar still has spacing (upper left) that results in food getting stuck in-between. Is it still common to have the spacing close to six months of wearing retainers, if so how long does it usually take to have the spacing close up? Thank you!

tongue area getting stuck on retainer
Hi all, I've been wearing my retainers for two months but noticed this week that the area below my tongue has started sticking to the acrylic edge of the retainer when I go to sleep. I notice the area swells a bit when I wake up but seems to go back down later, has this happened to anyone else and w...

Re: got my retainers today, a couple of questions
also, how do the rest of you remove your upper and lower hawley retainers? I see some people pull them out from the plastic side and others lift it up by the back wire. which is the recommended and safest way to do so and not damage it? thank you!

got my retainers today, a couple of questions
Hi everyone, I received my retainers today and have a couple of questions. The first is, what is the best way to put them on and remove them? Are there particular areas on the wire I should refrain from touching, as I have the worst hands and tend to break fragile things very easily (while my orthod...

Re: Do assistants apply brackets and appliances?
a little off topic but do most of you get treated one patient at a time, or do you go in a room where there are like 5 patients all sitting there at the same time and the orthodontist moves around from one person to one person?

Re: Orthos in NYZ for Metal/Ceramic braces
I'm not being subjective here, but just sharing my personal experience with one of the orthodontist I went to see for a consultation: http://www.drsinhta.com/ consulation was 800$ and all out of pocket because my insurance doesn't cover adult braces (this included a 150$ fee to have her assistant ta...

Re: Cost in NYC
when I had my first couple of consultations, they were in the upper east side and prices came to around the same as you mentioned. then I went to the lower east side, around Chinatown, and the pricing was almost in half. cost is important but you have to feel comfortable and confident with the ortho...

post-braces advice
hello everyone! next week I am getting my braces taken off :jump: and wanted to know what adjustments I will need to make post-braces life. How long do I need to wear my retainers for, what complications may I expect to face with retainers, how soon can I go back to eating foods I had to stay away f...

braces don't close spacing due to bone/gum loss question
hi everyone, before I had braces I had pretty severe gum recession that resulted in some loss of bone that created spacing between my teeth. my orthodontist says my treatment is almost completed but that the spaces can't be closed further since the gum and bone levels have already been worn away. ha...

how long do you brush your teeth?
hello, I just wanted to get an idea from the community on how long it's recommended that you brush your teeth with braces on. I have a friend who recently had braces put on and his orthodontist recommended to brush them 4 minutes, is that too long? thank you!

Re: waterpik waterpik yaaay
it can get messy using it for the first time, especially with water splattering onto the mirror but you will get adjusted to it. just make sure from time to time you clean the gunk that gets inside the crevices of the side of the handle, it seemed to release the water must faster when I did.

Re: staining issue
Hey Quiggle i agree with lilone, maybe schedule a clean for your next adjustment and when the wire is out they might be able to really clean the surface of the teeth for you, i mean if they can manage to get rid of coffee and smoking stains on people who are less vigilent thn im sure they can do so...
