Re: How do I love thee, let me count the days...

Well I am about 3.5 months in right now and there is a lot of changes going on in my mouth! I had a large gap develop in my bottom front teeth so at my last appointment I got a powerchain put on to pull them back together...weird but ok... Nine weeks ago I got a heavier wire put on my top arch and m...

Re: Flossing with braces

floss is my mortal enemy as well, I use the dental tape, it glides better.

Re: Which foods get stuck in your braces the most?

my ortho said its on the 'no eat' list because all the skins and kernals can get under the gums and hinder the movement of the teeth/wires. But....I love popcorn too...so I am just really careful :)

Re: does this happen to you too??

My ortho and assistants are awesome for telling me what they are doing and even what will happen at my next appointment. You have to think, until fairly recently, orthos dealt mainly with teenagers who honestly probably didn't really care/listen to what they were saying...this is all new for them to...

Re: Wire Issue

I was also told if it came out to feel free to try and get it back in, probably with some help of some tweezers and another set of hands. He did say the heavier the wire the harder time I would have putting it back in myself.

Re: Elizabeth's Pilgrimage to the Straight Smile Club

I still can't eat salad and I am almost 2 months in. My teeth do not meet enough to chew it :( Glad you aren't starving ;)

Re: sigh.

Is it the same brackets that are popping off or different ones every time? I had one pop off almost right away but it was on a tooth that was set back a bit from the rest and it was under a lot of pressure from the wire. Are your teeth hitting them causing them to pop off? Maybe they need to be re-f...

Re: Interproximal Brush Poll - Before or After?

Typically I use it after brushing and flossing to get the little stubborn bits left behind, I also carry one around in my purse in case I get something stuck in my braces while I am out and can't get to a washroom to brush right away. They are very handy. Shocking what your brush and floss still miss!

Re: Transformation time

my braces were the second part of my transformation, I lost 70 pounds and started gaining a lot of self confidence, decided that I wanted to have a great smile to go along with my awesome new shape :)

Re: Elizabeth's Pilgrimage to the Straight Smile Club

Depends on your ortho I guess, mine didn't charge me at all. They just took the wire out, re-cemented the bracket, put the wire back in and away I went, only took a few minutes. Sure did feel good to get the wire out for a few minutes lol

Re: Elizabeth's Pilgrimage to the Straight Smile Club

I had mine put on on a Friday too and snapped one off hours after leaving the office, called Monday and didn't get in until Tuesday. They said not to worry, continue to eat soft foods. It happens :)

I can wiggle my front bottom teeth and visibly see them move, kind of freaky, I try not to do it on purpose lol

Re: Okay.. I've taken the plunge..

During my 'soft food' phase, I ate a lot of oatmeal, soups, mashed up potato salad, mashed potatos, you can also put food into a chopper to make it minced up fine to eat it. It doesn't change the taste, just the texture a bit.

Re: Do I require all my molars ?

Not everyone requires molar bands, I only have them on my very last molars as I have a crown and large fillings and the brackets themselves would not adhere to my teeth on those teeth because of them. Lots of people have different teeth missing for various reasons, it does not exclude you from brace...
