Re: Harriet's Journey
Hi yes I have a bonded retainer top and bottom. I found it slightly uncomfortable for a day or so but now I only notice it if I think about it. I have essix retainers too which I wear at night.

Re: Harriet's Journey
And they're off! I'm so pleased with the result! It took about an hour to remove the braces, sand off the glue, attach the fitted retainer and then do my impressions for the retainers. I won't be getting the re-contouring done until 6 weeks time after all the whitening is done so this is quite the 1...

Re: 6 MONTH SMILE BRACES
Congratulations on getting your braces! I've got 6 month smiles too (getting them off in 2 weeks!) and found the top ones weren't too bad but had more problems with pain and irritation from the lower braces. I hope your adjustment went well!

Re: Harriet's Journey
I've been so busy with uni and work that I didn't get around to taking any pictures after my last appointment. Things are going really well thought and I'm having the braces taken off on the 12th of march!! It's only 2 weeks away now. I'm so excited to be rid off these horrible things. I am scared t...

Try the 'Our Braces Stories' section of the forum, thats where people tend to post pictures of their progress. I post pictures each time I get an adjustment which is usually every month. Click the link in my signature if you're interested.

You're welcome Danielle. I found it really hard to find real peoples experiences too, but this forum has been really helpful. Good luck with your braces and feel free to ask me any questions you might have, if I can answer them I will!

Re: Harriet's Journey
Had an eventful adjustment today. Finally got the bracket on my central incisor replaced with one that matches and in the right place this time! I also got the rectangular 16 x 22 wire put back in, with wire ties on the central incisors and a powerchain from canine to canine. It was very painful put...

Re: Harriet's Journey
I went for my adjustment today to find that they had got a power cut! So instead of getting a bracket moved they changed all the ligs, put a powerchain on from canine to canine and 'piggybacked' the archwire under the bracket that needs repositioning to get it moving to where it should be. I'm going...

Re: My ortho wants bonded retainers top and bottom. Opinions
I have a bonded retainer on the lower teeth and will be getting one on the uppers too once they are done. I found the permanent retainer to be much less of an issue than I imagined it would be. I barely notice that it's there to be honest. Flossing takes a few minutes extra but I don't mind this at ...

Re: Leftie's Brace's Blog - Six Month Smiles
I can relate - the bottom braces caused me way more pain than the top ones, and the bite guards took a good month to get used to. They do come to feel normal after a while though.

Re: Essix Retainers Not Effective?
I've just gotten an essix retainer for my lower teeth (got it yesterday). I've been advised to just wear it outside of work hours and at night, but i'm going to try and do full time wear for quite a while if I can as when I got the retainer it wouldn't fit properly as my teeth had moved. My teeth ar...
