Thanks for the comments and advice. I don't see the surgeon again until October so I guess I will just have to wait.
Thanks.

Swelling and Sinus Pressure 3 months out?
Hello, I am 39 and I had upper, lower, genioplasty and bone graft/sinus lift (for future implant) on May 25th. It has been 12 weeks and I still have significant swelling in the cheeks around the nose. I had a question for those that had upper jaw surgery - how long did the swelling last? Did you sti...

Re: best way to reduce swelling in the first few days post o
In using massage to reduce swelling - do you directly massage the face in the areas where there is swelling or do you massage the neck area or both?
I am almost 8 weeks post-op and looking to get rid of the swelling that is remaining in cheeks and around my nose.
Thanks!

Re: July 2011 Buddies?
Totally agree with Rizzie! Make sure you have something to help with it. I couldn't stomach the prune juice so I used suppositories instead (I couldn't put anything down my stomach for a week post-op without feeling completely nauseated). Don't wait too long because all the toxins from the drugs can...

Re: MAY 2011 BUDDIES!!!!
I don't know if any of the May buddies are still around but thought I would do a quick update post. 7 weeks post op from double jaw surgery and genioplasty. I had the surgery done to close an open bite at the front. I had an appointment to remove the splint this morning. 7.5 weeks with it in. I real...

More than likely she is still very swollen. I know I still have significant swelling in my cheeks, chin and lower jaw at 5 weeks post op.

Re: Do you ever hesitate to ask questions?
I am the same way. However looking back I wish I had asked everything I was thinking. They are not silly or stupid questions. You have never had this kind of surgery before (I am assuming) and you deserve to know all you can about it and any risks. I wish I would have asked more about what to expect...

Re: MAY 2011 BUDDIES!!!!
Hi Aussiere, I can totally relate to your post. I am just past 4 weeks post op and have almost the exact same feeling about my face as you. It looks very square in the jaw and beside my nose looks very puffy and swollen still. My top lip looks like it is too small for my face now because my cheeks a...

Re: MAY 2011 BUDDIES!!!!
Just about 4 weeks post op for me. Physically I am feeling much better but the swelling around my nose, upper lip and cheeks is very noticable. My face has taken on a square look because there is still significant swelling in my lower jaw and chin. I feel like my face is much more swollen than it wa...

Re: Lip Retraction post surgery
Thanks trossi. That makes sense. Hopefully if the swelling goes down around my lips it will also release some of the tension that feels like it is being pulled upward.

Lip Retraction post surgery
Has anyone experienced their lips getting smaller after having upper, lower and genio? I am 15 days post op and my upper lip is retracting to the point that I can't close my mouth without strain. Most on this board talk about how big their lips are but mine seem to be getting smaller and tighter. An...

Re: MAY 2011 BUDDIES!!!!
Day 9 for me today. Still having trouble with sleeping. I have never had trouble before the surgery but now when I try to fall asleep my breathing gets really slow and then stops and wakes me up sometimes gasping for air. I am not taking any narcotic medication and haven't since last Saturday. My no...

Re: Oral Thrush?
Doctor ordered a prescription of Diflucan to take for 10 days. I took the first dose last night and it is already working. Can't wait until it is gone! So gross.

Oral Thrush?
Has anyone experienced oral thrush (yeast infection) in their mouth and throat while being banded shut? If so, what did you do to fix it and how did you cope? I'm pretty sure it is from the antibiotics and the periodex mouthwash. It is so annoying!

Re: MAY 2011 BUDDIES!!!!
Thanks Rizzie, I will give that a try. With all the antibiotics they have you take it feels like it could easily be a yeast infection on the tongue. So disgusting. I have a post op appointment in 3 days. I am hoping he will take off the couple of bands I have and let me in there to clean. To all the...
