Agreeing with Cathy. I got my elastics on day 1 for my crossbite, and like you, I felt as though I should try and hold my jaw a certain way. Better to stay relaxed and let it go where the elastics want. Good luck!

Update: I asked last week. They said that while it is not a substitute for flossing, it's ok for me to use in certain areas instead of flossing (for now) because the crowding and springs make flossing close to impossible. They did say that even when I can floss everywhere that it's a good addition. ...

I got the portable one and use it three times a day as well. I think if I stopped using it, my teeth wouldn't feel nearly as clean!
