Re: Kissing with Class II elastics
As far as elastics go, depending in where you have them, your partner may not even be aware they are in...unless of course there is some serious tongue exploring going on. My guess is that you are prevented from opening your mouth very wide comfortably anyway. As for dangerous hooks and sharp things...

Re: Not happy with ortho office after braces.
You can also try a guitar pick, and look really cool carrying one around with you, too. I use my fingernails from two fingers on both hands on one side of the retainer. My retainers come just to the gumline, and I have to be careful not to catch my nail on the edge of a crown. So far, so good. My hy...

Re: He's staring at me!!
And Daniel had a choice before he got braces: implant, partial, braces. If he had not chosen the braces, well, I hate to think of the alternative.

Re: He's staring at me!!
It's a reveal before the reveal! Yes we met because of the metal mouth forum. Dan was the only person in real life I told of my impending braces removal. I kept it a secret from everyone else. Archwired will always hold a special place in our hearts! Now if I could just see what he really looks like!

Re: He's staring at me!!
I have a silly question... When you have rubber bands criss-crossing all over your teeth, does your significant other find it off putting when kissing? :jokerlaugh: I asked because my BF wasn't and still isn't too enthused about my braces. He says I remind him of 007's nemesis, Jaws, when I...

Re: There must be something in the water
I'm really dredging up the past here. I just wanted to post a follow up to my retention phase since I've been brace free for 2 years. I had my final ortho appt last July. All done, unless I have an issue. I've been wearing the Vivera retainers at night only for a long time. I like wearing them, beca...

Re: Hawley color
When I was a teenager my ortho made the Hawleys himself. I got to watch him make mine and select the colors and "mixins" as he did it. That was really fun.

Re: Anyone with Knowledge or Experience with Propel Therapy?
I did find information about one study at U of FL. Someone will need to do some digging to find the results, if any. http://clinicaltrials.gov/ct2/show/NCT01720797?term=propel&rank=2 But if you do a search on "tooth movement" you get some better hits! http://clinicaltrials.gov/ct2/resu...

Re: Anyone with Knowledge or Experience with Propel Therapy?
I am the "friend" Dan speaks of! This Propel device is a Class I exempt medical device. This means it is a low risk device exempt from premarket notification to the FDA, and also means clinical trials are not required. Hard to believe, I know. The listing on the FDA site is here: http://ww...

Re: is it much easier to close your lips after debracing?
Anna, do you have any interest in music? Playing an instrument such a woodwind or brass (I'm partial to trumpet) would definitely build up the musculature and your hubby will find you extra-kissable. Everyone knows trumpet SPAMMERS LIKE ME are the best kissers. :gavel: I have to agree with Dan's as...

Re: Wearing both permanent AND removable retainer 24/7?
It's not only to wear them, but to be smart and knowledgeable as well. If you do wear them, and you notice things shifting, visit the ortho. Don't wait. If your retainer breaks, visit the ortho. Keep an eye on bonded retainers and know when one of the points has come loose, or the wire has broken.

Re: Wearing both permanent AND removable retainer 24/7?
I have top and bottom Vivera (plastic tray) retainers that I wear 24/7 except for eating. I think I was told to wear them for the 1st year this way. I can't wait until I get to nighttime only wear. And I'm so glad I don't have bonded lingual wires. My teeth are staying put. My daughter just got her ...

Re: When a sneeze is more than just a sneeze.....
That is odd and funny at the same time. I can tell you there is no way I could ever sneeze out my retainers. Mine fit so tight, and I have to ruin fingernails to pry them up.

I may be in the boat. I'm 2 months out from debanding. I just had a filling replaced a couple weeks ago, but the tooth is till really sensitive to cold...I mean über sensitive. I'm about to call the dentist and ask how long I should wait before we consider it a failure and call the endodontist. Trou...
