Jaw pain after braces removed?
Hi All, I had my braces removed 1 week ago (I wore them for 26 months) -- I love how my teeth look, but I started to experience jaw pain (left side) the day after debanding (discomfort when I chew or smile). I wear a clear plastic retainer at night for 10-12 hrs. I am going to contact my orthodontis...

Re: ceramics and curry/coffee?
Curry definitely stains clear ligs a horrendous neon yellow! I usually save it for 1-2 days before my next ortho appt! I am not a daily coffee drinker; however, I have a cup every now and then just rinse w/ water immediately after and then brush (no stains from this thus far).

Re: Question
I had a similar issue right around 6 weeks. My ortho detached the wire from the molar band where I was having the problem -- the sensitivity was gone within a day or two after that. She reattached the wire to the band at the next appt, and I haven't had any issues since then (knock on wood!). She me...

Re: Best lip balm/chap stick for bracing?
I've heard great things about Sugar (haven't tried it myself though). I have been using Nivea's "A kiss of moisture" and love it. It is inexpensive and the best I have tried so far. Good luck on Friday! Hello all, I am getting my braces put on this Friday. As I've read, it is highly recomm...

Re: Sensitive teeth all of a sudden
I had the same thing happen right around 5.5 weeks (to a banded molar and 2nd bicuspid). I told my ortho about it at my 6 wk adjustment and she decided not to attach the wire to my molar that was having pain and sensitivity to see if movement and pressure was the issue. I could feel almost immediate...

I have metal brackets on my bottom teeth and upper premolars and molars -- I go w/ silver and think they blend in quite well.

Re: Getting braces soon - How long will my speech be affecte
Congrats on getting braced, str8teethby30! I'm 29 and got my braces back in May. I noticed some very minor speech difficulties the first week on days that I had to talk a lot at work -- my mouth would get very dry and I would end up needing to use some wax on my canines and 1st bicuspids (my speech ...

Re: How long until you could eat/talk normally?
[quote="TinySmiley"]this is a great question, revelvia. :) I just got my braces on Tuesday and they are still quite sore when I eat and the inside of my mouth feels very raw, but otherwise I feel no discomfort. I have plans this weekend to eat out with friends, but I don't know how much I ...

[quote="threescompany"]If you have eaten curry (because you couldn't hold out any longer) and now have yellowish stained ligs and/or powerchain on your ceramic braces, you probably should not wear a white t-shirt, thus highlighting the fact that your mouth is most certainly not white. :rol...

Re: Poll: At What Age Did You Get Your Braces?
29...soon to be 30! I have been hesitant to get them since I was 13...every ortho I consulted w/ recommended 4 bicuspid extractions and I was never willing to proceed. Well, I've been braced for 11 days (no extractions yet...we're "seeing how it goes"). They still feel soooo strange but I'...
