Re: 1 week post op and beyond - what was your experience?
I have posted my experience in the July buddies thread, but I'll post a little more detail here. Today is day 10 for me post-surgery. I still wake up a little swollen and a little sore, but for the most part it isn't too bad. I am eating soft foods and graduating from my liquid diet. I feel totally ...

Re: July 2011 Buddies?
Glad you're home wonnie! Day 9 here. Nothing but smooth sailing. No pain, can eat some softer foods like eggs and oatmeal now. Swelling keeps going down day by day, but I assume the less swollen I get the less the swelling will go down each day. I feel comfortable going out in public. The only thing...

Re: July 2011 Buddies?
Day 8, by far the best day yet. Swelling has gone down a HUGEEE amount. I have 0 discomfort and just take a precautionary Advil every few hours. Don't have to ice my face, eating is easy. Take out my elastics to finally get to BRUSH MY FREAKING TEETH. I'm liking the results thus far, so god knows I'...

Re: July 2011 Buddies?
I was allowed to use a straw from day 1. It makes eating 100x easier than using a syringe. My swelling is still present in day 6 here. I'm getting my elastics removed tomorrow as well at my first post-op visit. Don't let the swelling get you down anna! It does get better! Stay strong and remember th...

Re: July 2011 Buddies?
Day 5 now here. Swelling was bad when I woke up, but got considerably better throughout the day. Still have that chipmunk look, but it's getting a little better. It's a little disheartening not being able to see my results, but immediate gratification is never as satisfying :D. The pain and discomfo...

Re: July 2011 Buddies?
The post-surgery nausea was by far the worst part of this entire process for me. I guess I had just swallowed so much blood from the surgery that my stomach wanted to throw it up throughout the night. I thought it was going to be a 1 time thing, but I ended up throwing up pretty much all night. The ...

Re: July 2011 Buddies?
I would say days 3 and 4 were about the same. I feel like it is starting to go down now though. I'll keep you updated on the swelling status. It probably peaked in when I woke up on day 3. Definitely sucks to feel puffy and not be able to see your results .

Re: July 2011 Buddies?
Hope everyone is doing well. Day 4 post surgery for me. Swelling is obviously quite apparent, but the pain is getting better by the day. I'm still not minding my liquid diet. I go in for my post op visit on Wednesday. Hoping to see my swelling start going down so I have a better idea what I'm going ...

Re: July 2011 Buddies?
I'm still pretty swollen and have a little discomfort. I wouldn't classify it as pain. Keeping my sinuses clear is the hardest thing, and was the biggest thing keeping me awake last night. I'd say enjoy your last few days of solid food. The liquid diet doesn't particularly bother me, but obviously I...

Re: July 2011 Buddies?
Don't let my experience trouble you. I'm not going to promise you fun and joy right after the surgery, but just remember that nothing in life worth doing comes easy. We made this decision because we thought it would improve our quality of life. Just remember that when you feel regretful or pain.

Re: July 2011 Buddies?
I just have the rubber bands and brackets right now, so no wiring. I am just starting to get some food in my stomach. Wasn't feeling it before. I went to my favorite Thai restaurant and picked up a huge bowl of coconut soup, so I'm not minding that.

Re: July 2011 Buddies?
I'm at home now. Had a rough night last night. Not really with pain, but with nausea. I was swallowing a lot of dry blood and ended up throwing up a few times. Wasn't very pleasant, but I'm feeling better now. I have no pain right now, just pressure in my face. My swelling is definitely there, but i...
