Re: Keep molds of your finished treatment?
I think some molds are destroyed as part of the process of making a retainer (depending on the type?). My orthodontist ordered me "Clear-Lock Retainers for Life" for daytime wear (I wear a Damon splint at night), and they store a digital 3d dimensional model of your teeth, so if you ever n...

Re: Braces for TMD
May I ask how the palatal expansion went in more detail? I am hearing lots of stuff about it only tipping teeth and all that... but then I also read that some adults get a mix of real expansion and tipping.... what was this like in your case? Palatal expansion of my upper jaw is in my future, just ...

Re: Sonicbrite/Retainer Questions
Oh yeah, I forgot my other question...Is it ok to clean the top and bottom retainers in the Sonicbrite at the same time? They don't seem to touch when they're in there together. In fact it seems like the sonic waves make them move apart from each other (like if you put two Us together with one of th...

Sonicbrite/Retainer Questions
Hi All, So I've been debraced for 2 days now (you can see my story related to TMD in the Metal Mouth forum) and started using my Sonicbrite cleaner. When I took it out of the box I noticed that it seemed like there was something loose rolling around inside it (kind of like a ball bearing or somethin...

Re: Braces for TMD
I am officially debraced!:) My Ortho made the decision at my appointment at the end of January that they would come off in 3 weeks (he was probably getting tired of me). He clipped both archwires behind the canine teeth, leaving the wires only on the front 6 upper and lower. Then I was instructed to...

Re: Braces for TMD
Well, it's 6 months after I posted this and I am *still* braced, despite thinking they would come off fairly soon back then. My second molars are taking their time moving it seems. My treatment hadn't changed much, with just boxed elastics for the past few months. However yesterday my ortho added a ...

Re: waterpik question
I use my Waterpik at least 2 times a day also since I can't stand the feel of food in my teeth and it is much easier than flossing. There is a portable rechargable 1 too that might be quieter. I had the older style Waterpik rechargeable and it was quite loud. It also had issues with the connector b...

Re: Interproximal Brush Poll - Before or After?
Hmm, it seems like most people like to do it before, so I'm in the minority. I don't think I'll change my routine tho, I like it afterwards to really get the brackets clean from what the toothbrush has left behind. Here's my full routine: Oral Irrigator Toothbrush Interproximal Brush Floss Mouthwash...

Interproximal Brush Poll - Before or After?
Ok, well it's not a true phpbb2 poll, because I don't see that as an option. If you use an interproximal brush, do you use it before or after you use a regular toothbrush? I've been using it afterwards, to clean whatever the toothbrush left behind between my teeth and behind the wire on the brackets...

Re: Glide Threader Floss
Hi All, Does anyone know if Glide Threader floss has been discontinued? I have been a big Glide fan for years, and I've used it for the nearly two years that I've had my braces. I'm having problems finding the 30 packs in my local stores and have been forced to switch to Oral B Superfloss (which ta...

Re: Glide Threader Floss
I finally found some at CVS too, and I bought 3 boxes. Hoepfully I only have 3 months left:). I don't think I'm going to get a permanent retainer, the last I heard was a combination of hawley and essix.

Well, maybe we should open the game up to all elastics, even if they don't have cool animals on them;).

Re: First few hours and ping
You should talk to RobotTeeth, the guy that posted just before you. It seems like you both had your braces installed and immediately popped two brackets. I've only popped 1 bracket so far, and that was about a year into treatment. I would try to get them reattached as soon as you can, else it might ...
