Hi there, sounds like we got braced around the same time. My teeth have hurt a fair amount but I'm older than you...old enough to be your mum...my son turns 19 in November! Looks like we're on this journey together since mine are scheduled for two years as well.

It's around my mouth. I think I may have bruised myself while applying some counterpressure to my aching gums. I have bruised before when having dental work done. One time when I had a deep cleaning done it looked like I had been punched in the mouth. Oh well.

Hi guys...thanks for the welcome!

Today while cleaning my teeth I looked in the mirror and it looked like I had dirt or a shadow all around my mouth. I looked closer and realized that I'm bruised all around my mouth. Anyone else experience this?

My Orthodontist has made no mention of elastics to me but some of my brackets look different than most of my brackets...they have like hooks on them. I've suspected they may be for rubber bands at some point. What do you guys think?

A muffin was the first thing I ate. Then I tried potato chips and onion dip when I got home. I popped off two brackets even though I sucked on the chips. The pain has forced me to make better (softer) choices.

I'm still too new at all of this to offer any real advice. Sorry to hear that you are struggling so much with your braces. Hopefully you can find some peace sooner rather than later.

I hear you with the cost and my coffee. Also, supposedly the metal ones will be most effective to fix my "ills".

Today is my third day and I'm still in alot of pain. Ibuprofen every four hours, soft food, and Orajel several times a day. The only time my mouth doesn't hurt is when I sleep! Hopefully pain is soon gone for both of us.

Hi all, I'm so glad I found this site. Got my upper and lower metal braces on on Monday (7/25) and have been suffering ever since. Each day is a bit better.
