Re: Does having Braces make you feel cool?
I love my braces haha, they make me look younger and let me get away with using student bus tickets!

Re: tooth sensitivity
I just wanted to say that I went through the same problem in October! ANYTHING cold was horrible for me, so I always switched to the warm water but I used Sensodyne or the Colgate Sensitive Pro-Relief, and it made the problem go away, I can eat cold things again, however it does take a few days or w...

Re: How long before braces?
I went for a consultation on a Sunday morning, my mom came in with me and we took the xrays and did the teeth moulds. By Wednesday, my braces were already on top and bottom! It really depends on your ortho, I didn't wait long to get mine on.

Re: Elastics.. WHAT DO THEY DO!
Your ortho usually shows you how to put your elastics on and if you have questions, be sure to ask your ortho and remember how to put them on correctly or it won't work. My rubber bands were meant to close my open bite and I've had them for about two weeks already. My ortho showed me how to put them...

Re: Dry lips
Congrats on getting braces! I'm in my fourth month of braces and dry lips still affect me, I use SoftLips and ChapStick, both work well and keep my lips moisturised throughout the day.

Re: Anyone develop an open bite during treatment?
I'm glad to have helped, don't get discouraged. I'm sure you'll see results soon. I'm in my 4th month of braces and got the elastics. I was told to wear them whenever I can so I wear them VERY often, pretty much every chance I get except for the days were I'm required to talk in class I don't put th...

Re: Anyone develop an open bite during treatment?
Hi! I developed an open during treatment and I'm currently wearing elastics for my open bite, I wear it in a triangle formation, one on the left side and one on the right side! I've been wearing them since Sunday so about 5 days right now, I see a huge improvement and my open bite has massively shru...

Re: Elastics
They definitely do! My cousins and I were talking at the ortho office about how each of them wore their elastics and I'm the only one who wears it as the triangle. It's definitely strong and keeping my mouth shut. It gets uncomfortable too at times when you feel the top tooth/teeth pressed against t...

Re: Elastics
I put on a pair of new elastics overnight while I slept and my open bite has changed so much. There's still an open bite but it's a lot smaller than before and I was so surprised when I looked in the mirror. I just googled what the Forsus appliance was and it looks painful and a real hassle to take ...

Re: Elastics
Thank you for the reply!
Was it a good thing when your ortho said they moved "alarmingly fast"?
I eat on lunch on campus for only 2 days so I always have to carry toothpicks with me and usually rinse my mouth out with water since I don't really know where to brush my teeth at school.

Re: One Month In
Don't be discouraged, everyone is different and changes will come in time, they're not always the most noticeable ones but they are moving little by little. I didn't see my results until a little over a week but the results will come I'm only in my 4th month and during the course of the time I did s...

Elastics
I just had my 4th adjustment today and nearing the 4 month mark since I got braces and I got elastics (rubber bands) today, they suck, it's sore and painful. I have to wear them in a triangle to fix my open bite. She suggested I wear them whenever possible this is my third set of the day, she put th...

Re: Sudden tooth sensitivity
I have or had one tooth that was extremely sensitive to anything cold, when you use Sensodyne it takes a week or two to fully kick in, I've been using Sensodyne for about one and a half months or more I assume and I haven't had any issues with sensitivity but I heard it's because your teeth is movin...
