Question for anyone who has, or has had the "Splint" post op
Ok, so this may be one of the silliest questions posted on here, but I'm going to ask it anyway. I had lower jaw surgery on October 10th and I will be wearing a splint wired to my top teeth until November 11th. Fun huh? My questions is, does foods like Tomato soup and tomato-based pasta sauces stain...

Re: Aetna vs CIGNA vs United vs BCBS
I have BCBS in Texas and it covered mine. The original submission was denied, but our policy states that Jaw reconstructive surgery is covered only after appliance therapy didn't work. When we first submitted I had only been in braces for a week, now that I have been in for over a year, we resubmitt...

Re: October 2011 Surgery Buddies?
Hi ya'll,
My date was moved to 10/10 but I had pre-op yesterday with both the surgeon and the hospital. Every is all set and we're ready to go.
We're in the single-digit countdown!

Re: only one day in hospital?
Hi, I am actually having surgery on October 10th, and I was told I would be in overnight. Well sort of. My surgery is scheduled for 12:30pm and they told me I would go home the next morning. I think its kind of the surgeon's discretion, but I agree, I would rather come home to my PJs and my recliner...

Re: October 2011 Surgery Buddies?
How is everyone doing? My last week has been very eventful. Met with my surgeon last Friday to confirm that I needed lower jaw only, and I found out yesterday that my appeal to Blue Cross Blue shield was approved! I guess the secret to success is to BOMBARD them with information. My surgeon and my o...

Re: October 2011 Surgery Buddies?
Howdy ya'll from Texas! I have surgery scheduled for Oct. 6th, but I am not yet sure if I am having only lower jaw advancement or bi-jaw surgery. My surgeon mentioned back in November of 2010 that he may need to do both, due to the "angle" or something on my jaw, but that he would need to ...

Rodney,
Was your's BCBSTX PPO or HMO?
I am hopeful that we can get coverage. Our benefits director seems to think we have a good shot at it.

Re: Any having or have had surgery in Dallas?
I have BCBS also, but was denied. I spoke with our benefits director today and she said there was hope for an appeal if we can show that the braces will not correct my bite. Ha! My braces are making my bite worse because I have a 9 mm overjet! Anyway, we're going to resubmit and pray a lot... Otherw...

What about sneezing?
I keep reading that you aren't able to blow your nose for awhile after surgery but what do you do when you need to sneeze?
I live in Texas and have terrible allergies, it seems like I sneeze a hundred times per day, what do you do?
Sounds absolutely terrible...

Question for anyone who had bi-jaw surgery...
Hello all, I am new to this forum. I am due to have surgery in early October, but a final date has not been set yet. I have a 9-10 overjet and when I first met with the surgeon almost a year ago now, he mentioned that due to the angle of my upper jaw, he may have to do bi-jaw surgery, instead of jus...
