Re: Question about first day with spacers..

I never had any real pain from spacers. But I was told to chew, chew, chew! My ortho gives me a package of gum after every visit. They say that chewing makes the pain much better.

Re: How Often do I change Zebra Elastics?

My ortho says to change elastics twice per day. I don't like that- I change them every time I eat or brush my teeth. They don't mind giving me a couple of extra packages!

Re: Pros/cons of molar buildups vs. bite turbos?

I SO know where you are coming from. I think one of my first posts here was complaining about the turbos. I HATED them. I had a terrible lisp and they were so bothersome. I called my ortho a few days after getting them and asked to have them removed and have the molar buildups instead. They asked if...

Re: Elastics placement question

I asked him what they are supposed to be doing. He just said he gave them to me for a valid reason, and that if I don't wear them in the way that I was asked to, then they won't work. But I still don't know what they are for. . That would make me really angry. You are paying the orthodontist to hel...

Re: Power chains and colors question

I wasn't being asked about colors for rubberbands or chains before. I think they assumed as an adult I would always want gray/clear to blend in. But I finally asked for colors instead. I figure I might as well have a little fun with it! Right now I have pink powerchains and rubberbands- for Valentin...

Re: Dentist visit before and after

I kept my regular cleaning cycle. I have a Water Pik which has been AWESOME for keeping braces clean. I have been complimented by both hygienist and orthodontist for keeping my braces/teeth/gums in such good condition. It's the Water Pik, honestly. At my last cleaning the hygienist did say that they...

Re: Pain after Wire Change

I had my wires changed out today. I always have pain for a day or two after having the wires changed- the next days seems to be the worst, making it difficult to eat. But then it is better and I pretty much have no pain any other time except for some rubbing from the brackets. Nothing a little wax w...

Re: Poll: At What Age Did You Get Your Braces?

Orthodontic treatment commenced November 2011 .. aged 55. Hoping to have a corrected bite (and a nice smile ) by the time I turn 60 :D Good for you! I had them put on at 43. I am now 44. I seem to be a late bloomer in life. I went back to college at 34, started a new career at 38, went back to scho...

Re: I have pics, but need help!!

My tiny phone memory card came with an adapter- Put the tiny card into the adapter and put it in the memory card slot on your computer. A box should pop up, choose your pictures (DSC), and then drag then onto your computer screen or into whatever folder you want.

Re: 7 hours in and it isn't as bad as I was expecting

In my experience, the worst is 2 or 3 days after having something done. But by "worst" I mean take a Motrin and put on some wax for a few days, and then thing are fine for weeks. I have never had terrible pain. I always think the worst is getting anything new put on, and then the rubbing f...

Re: Bite turbos- one more time please?

Bite turbos OFF as of today! HOORAY! I had a bottom tooth that became very loose. I called the ortho about it and went in today- and all of my bottom front teeth were loose, one much more than the others. Looks like it was from hitting the bite turbos. She said she would have to remove the turbos an...

Re: Damon Braces and Question =)

Another bite turbo hater- but you really will get used to them. If you search out my first posts here, that was exactly what they were about- how I couldn't talk at all and hated them! I was originally told 2 to 6 months for the bite turbos. It has been around 2 months now, and they might come off n...

I started with moose elastics and now have rams. Cute rams not angry ones. Lol. I suspect they are chosen based on local wildlife/ sports teams.
