Re: My Story.... and progress pics!

WOW! Serious movement taking place! Your before and present shots are encouragement to me (and I bet others) that this will be worth the treatment time. Thanks for posting!!! Your smile is definitely getting better!!!

Re: Regrets and want to have braces taken off...

I just saw your post. Soreness is normal. I found some pain killers an hour before dinner allowed me to eat more "normally" the first few days. Within a week, I was eating all but the very sticky and very crunchy stuff.

Hang in there!!!

Re: 44 and braced - My log of my journey to a better smile

Forgot to update... the very end of my wire had fractured. Weird!?! After a NASCAR pit stop style wire change I was off to work. Ortho seems happy with progress, so we'll see what Feb 21 visit brings...

Re: 44 and braced - My log of my journey to a better smile

After my first wire change on Monday (11/28/2011), I now have a lower arch wire that does not seem to quite make it into the lower right rear molar bracket... off to the ortho this morning for some tune-up work, LOL.

Re: How often are your archwires changed w/Selfligating brac

jamsmak04,

We are on the same schedule! I've had Damons since 9/6 and my first followup is 11/28!

Like you, I am wondering what lurks around the corner in a couple of weeks (besides a wire change). Maybe we can compare notes after our visits.

Re: Dry lips

I am 45 and just past month 2 of my Damon braces. I had dry, chapped lips in the beginning, but it cleared up --- until I went to Las Vegas for four days around Halloween. The arid location had me hunting down lip meds at the CVS on the strip, LOL. A few days back home and all is normal again. If yo...

Congrats on taking the plunge. I'm just a couple of weeks ahead off you. I was regretting my decision too.

Hang in there. It gets easier each passing day :) .

Re: 11 days and counting!

Let me start by saying this,... do NOT chicken out!!! Okay, that being said, congrats on taking the first big step. I am beginning week number 3 already. Time is FLYING. I can eat almost everything I love. Very chewy/sticky and very crunchy stuff is fail, but you will be suprised what a fork and kni...

Re: Braces at (almost) 49

Hmm... I guess time will tell for all of us. I dread the rubber bands, but with an overbite, I believe I am destined to need to use them. I guess I will cross that bridge when I get to it. Now I am really feeling like Ortho's are salesmen. Once you are sold, you are in for the long haul - with no es...

Re: 34 and eating like a 1 year old...

Hello Happysmiles, Congrats on taking the plunge! I am 44 and got braced with Damon Clears up top but (per my Ortho's demands) metal bottoms. Since I have always been an expert at hiding my lower teeth (lots of spacing) the metal is hidden most of the time. Oh, I should add that most people I know d...

Re: Braces at (almost) 49

Hmm... I hope I have not been "low-balled" on the time frame. I would rather be told a worse case and then be plesently suprised. Most orthos are glorified salespeople and want to score the biz by lowballing. Argh! I'll keep my fingers crossed for us and the others on here too. Here is wis...
