Re: Orthognathic surgery AFTER genioplasty?
There's absolutely no way I can afford it now. I'm just starting to pay off the genio/rhino which cost about 10 K. And the prospect of cosmetic surgery later in life is not appealing to me. If I'd chosen the ortho route now, I could've waited two years. But with the all my present constraints, I wou...

Re: Orthognathic surgery AFTER genioplasty?
Yeah. I still believe that, but ortho surgery is looking like a very distant prospect right now. The financial and time commitment, not to mention the lack of family support (they helped me through genio/rhino, but they disapprove of more surgery), would be too much to handle. I guess I'll just have...

Re: Orthognathic surgery AFTER genioplasty?
I suppose it looks half-decent... Honestly, I was most apprehensive about the rhinoplasty. I had a very strong nose, one that many people would consider ugly (especially paired with my weak face), but it was long, strong, and natural-looking. Now it's better balanced with my face, but it looks a lot...

Re: Sliding genioplasty - how long to smile?
I had a sliding genioplasty about 5 weeks ago.
Closed-lip smiling returned after about 1 1/2 - 2 weeks, and toothy smiling followed at about 3 1/2 weeks. It still looks a bit off, and my lower lip is kind of stiff, but no one really notices.

I hope this draws advice out of more people.

Re: Orthognathic surgery AFTER genioplasty?
ReoSity, Could you give me a few details about your face and the nature of your correction? I would deeply appreciate it. Why did you decide to go for jaw correction after genioplasty? Did your surgeon and ortho find it more difficult to maneuver around the fact that you already have a genio? Were t...

Re: Orthognathic surgery AFTER genioplasty?
Hi, thanks for the response. I have a gummy smile, and I notice that my teeth kind of "slant" inwards when I smile. My lips don't meet at rest, but it's mild enough that I always manage to keep them together. My surgeon remarked I have slight lip incompetence. Is that the same thing? I hav...

Orthognathic surgery AFTER genioplasty?
This is a tough question for me because it brings up a lot of regrets, while simultaneously making me feel idiotic. So here it goes. This summer I underwent a genioplasty and rhinoplasty to compensate for what should've been orthognathic surgery. At the time, I felt that it would be enough. I felt t...
