Re: Rivvie's Rollercoaster Ride (will include surgery)

Time for a little update: I am doing fine, the difference I see when comparing my teeth from the start to now is already amazing. Ok, it is nowwhere near the final "product" but I am getting there. My teeth have come together after the surgery. A tiny gap still remains between my top teeth...

Re: Rivvie's Rollercoaster Ride (will include surgery)

Hi everybody again :) It has been a while since I posted, I had to keep some distance from it all for a while. Anyway, I am doing very well. The last few months have been very eventful. I haven't even posted pictures of the post-op me (or at least the teeth). Surgery day itself was very hectic. A we...

Re: Upper Jaw surgery only - numbness

crislopes, your story scares me a little. I will be having a lefort 1+BSSO in the future and I am definately afraid that I will have permanent numbness in my chin and lips as a result of those surgeries. They say that in most cases feeling will return, or at least that only a small area will remain ...

Re: Upper Jaw surgery only - numbness

I did not have a lefort 1 yet, but have had SARPE surgery. The cuts are made in similar places, so I guess that you can compare it a little. I did not have any numbness on my face, however my nostrils and tip of my nose were numb for a week or two. This is back to normal now. In addition, the gums o...

Re: January 2012 Buddies!

Great to hear from both of you Olive and Ashleigh, I am glad that you are doing ok! Good to hear that you are over the worst of it Olive, I hope the swelling will go down a bit soon. Then you will be able to see the results too. Ashleigh, 8 hour surgery, wow that was a long one. Good that you are no...

Re: January 2012 Buddies!

Wow Ashleigh, that sounds like some major major surgery. "just" the jaw surgery is major enough, but you are getting additional surgeries as a bonus... I am sure that in the end you will be glad that you had it all done though! catsteeth, good luck with your future surgery as well! Those t...

Re: January 2012 Buddies!

Hi guys, I am starting to feel a bit better today. The last two days I had quite a bit of pain unfortunately, I think due to the swelling and because the SARPE appliance was tightened already for the first time during surgery. I feel a constant pressure already. I took ibuprofen+tylenol, but nothing...

Re: January 2012 Buddies!

Just a short post to let you guys know I am ok. I am home, the surgery went well. I was warned for nausea, but luckily I had none of that. The surgery almost got cancelled on the spot, since I developed a slight fever prior to surgery. But after a lot of hassle and discussion, drawing blood and wait...

Re: Rivvie's Rollercoaster Ride (will include surgery)

So, it is finally here, the day before the first surgery. Time to post some updated pics. I feel that a lot of progress has been made already. Ofcourse because of the SARPE and MSDO to come, things will get worse again before it will improve further. Anyway, updated pics: I added one of the lower ja...

Re: January 2012 Buddies!

Hi all! How is everybody doing? My surgery is in just 3 days, starting to get nervous... To make matters worse I have been stuggling to keep a cold at bay. Feeling pretty tired and muscle aches all over, sigh... Hope that it does not get any worse than this. The orthodontist is going to cut the wire...

Re: Nicola's Story - Braces with Surgery :S

Don't worry, you will learn how to eat with braces ;). Yes, it gets everywhere at first, but after a few weeks I learned to minimize this somewhat. Some stuff I can get out with just my tongue, otherwise swishing with water helps a bit. Sometimes when food gets really stuck (I'm thinking little stri...
