Re: Don't know what's "normal" anymore
I had the same situation when my ortho asked me to bite down in order to correctly place my brackets or checking on biting correction. The problem is that all my life with an overjet, I had the tendency to move my lower jaw forward to make the overjet less noticeable or bite things better. But I kno...

Re: Tooth WONT move
Same here. Teeth that were even worst moved fast, but my lateral incisor won't. My ortho said we are only waiting for that one to align to start correcting the overbite. Problem is, that the sucker just won't move!! I had a 10 months estimate and a deadline (the main reason for the speedy treatment)...

Re: Any facial changes with your braces?
I also did get bigger lips and I think my face look a bit different. A good friend of mine also noticed. But I am sure lips will go back to the normal fulness after braces removal. However, since teeth were moved facial changes are expected. In my case, I hope for the best. I don't like the way my m...

Re: You ceramic, your kid metal. What we teach, preach???
There are good reasons to usually use metal in kids vs. ceramics: 1) Ceramics are larger/thicker than their metal counterparts 2) Children are notoriously poor with proper orthodontic hygiene; this means stained ligs, stuck food sticking out like a beacon, etc. 3) Metals are sturdier and easy to re...

Re: Anyone Miss their braces? or going to?
I can't wait to have them off. The pain hasn't been that bad, I never need wax and cleaning is a hassle but I don't mind. However, I don't I feel or look better (or interesting, lovely, cute, smart or whatever other positive thing) with braces on, specially as an adult. Is like missing a splinter or...

Re: shaving/filing teeth?
IPR was, by far, the most uncomfortable thing of the entire treatment so far. Not the spacers, not the bracing, but the shaving, my teeth were so "loose" and sensitive that the back and forth movement and pressure really did hurt. BUT, I am happy I got this done because I had a bottom teet...

Re: Life sucks
Hi Nikk-87, I am 33 years old and 3 months into braces. Believe me, it sucks even more if you do this later in life than when you are suppossed to (in your teens). Everyone I know either have a great smile or crooked teeth. Nobody have braces and I can´t find a confident word from my friends or cowo...

Re: Braces Make My lips Huge
I didn't even noticed the menorah until you mentioned it.
and I don't think your lips are huge at all. But I understand that feeling of having something the size of a car inside your mouth after braced. And that sensation never seems to go away.

Re: My Progress in 3 Months...
I am also 3 months into braces and the changes I am noticing are soooooo spectacular that I believe that, at this pace, I will be out of braces maybe before the estimate (or at least, right at the estimate).
It is amazing how fast teeth move!

Re: shaving/filing teeth?
Part of my treatment includes interproximal reduction (shaving) of the teeth. The need of shaving is to make room for straightening my teeth (and avoid an unnecessary extraction). I believe that if you need a little extra room, but not that much to need an extraction, shaving is the solution. They w...

Re: Do orthodontists purposely stealthily buy time to fill u
They should give you a quote for the entire treatment (either if you pay all up front or in montly installments) and if the time gets extended, you should NOT pay a cent more. The only extra payments they could possibly charge you is for emergencies, broken brackets and maybe for cleaning during the...

Re: Ambivalent Ortho office rant
My advise is for you to go to the office, pick up your x-rays, molds, pictures and all those evaluation stuff (those are yours, you paid for them, so you are entitled to have them back if you want to) and take them to another ortho. If they are so lousy, even at the "trying to get the client&qu...

Re: Is it me or ceramics tend to be more "noticeable"?
I am definitely happy I did this. And I think that after 6 weeks I feel a lot better about my braces. Specially because I found a lot of improvement!!! It's amazing how quick things are getting straightened. I am sooo happy and can't wait to see how I will look after a couple more months! I like wha...

Re: Adjustments every 2 weeks
Before I started my treatment, I went to a different ortho and the only option he gave me was SL brackets and a 12 month treatment and he clearly said "after 12 months you will be ALMOST DONE". (I needed a speedy treatment, since I am moving in about a year). When I asked for invisalign he...
