One Month In
Okay, so I've had my top braces on for about 1 month and a week now, and my teeth still look just the same. I haven't noticed any changes whatsoever, and I'm feeling a little bit discouraged. A couple of my close friends have told me that their teeth changed drastically within 2 months time, but I j...

Re: Is 24 Months the "Average" Estimated Treatment Time?
Hi Skylines, 24 month sentences are very common, but not the standard estimate for every case... Some of my friends also have braces and one got an estimate of 30 months and another 12 months. So it really depends, my estimate was 20-28 months and I think that was reasonable. Hope that helps, :mrgr...

Is 24 Months the "Average" Estimated Treatment Time?
I was told that I'd be in braces for around 24 months (for moderate crowding and a slight overbite). According to most people I've spoken with, their orthodontist also estimated treatment time at 24 months. So, my question is: Is 2 years just the standard estimate for EVERY case? I know that the act...

Re: Who Performs a Frenectomy?
I can't answer the question about prices, as I don't live in Boston nor have I had the procedure done, myself... But a quick Google search seemed to show that the procedure is usually performed in your orthodontist's office or the dentist's office. Maybe you should ask your orthodontist more about i...

Re: Purple archwire!
That is REALLY wicked! :D I'll be it looks really cool. I wanted damons, but my ortho didn't provide them and he was one of the only ones around who'd accept my insurance. So, I'm stuck with boring, boring, boring braces.

Re: Chapped Lips
Ouch, my braces haven't been on long but I can relate too. :( I've always had dry, chapped lips, even before braces, and they've only been getting worse. As others have said, Burt's Bees is a LIFESAVER! I also exfoliate my lips with my toothbrush (not sure if lip exfoliation is good while wearing br...

Crowding - Saggital & Cetlin Appliances?
Hi all, I'm new and just got my top braces on a few days ago, and my bottom braces will be on in 6 months. I'm 18 and very new to orthodontics... I've never had braces or any other treatment before. (We didn't have the money and my parents assumed my teeth were fine... but that's another story, I'm ...

Re: Poll: At What Age Did You Get Your Braces?
I just recently turned 18 and just got my top metal braces on yesterday! It's painful, exciting, worrisome, and strange all at once. I'll get a saggital appliance and a cetlin appliance in 4 weeks and the bottom braces on in 6 months, which worries me, because my bottom teeth are MUCH worse than the...
