Re: Braces for the THIRD time!
The time doesn't really bother me as I actually hate retainers more than braces! I feel confident this guy will get it closer to right and what I think is good.

Re: Braces for the THIRD time!
Sorry I wasn't clear enough. Still in them, yes 4 years now because of a combination of my unhappiness with the supposed final result and working in another state, coming back to visit my family and getting tweaks. Now that my family has moved and we found a SAVVY ortho, I've decided to transfer. Th...

Re: Braces for the THIRD time!
So here we are a long time since I'd posted last. My work work schedule has been wonky for a while so larger times between appointments and I wasn't very happy with what the ortho stated was the finished product I'm living in another state and took my younger son to an orthodontist that uses the sma...

Re: Same day braces?
I went in looking for ideas/options with a clunky jaw and some relapse from a failed (supposedly permanent) bonded lower retainer. I walked out unexpectedly same day with a set of nice metal 3M SmartClip brackets top and bottom. I'm admittedly weird, but totally prefer the braces to stupid retainers...

Re: What to do after getting braces put on?
I'd highly recommend some vegetarian black or veg regular refried beans! They're nice and soft, and provide the good protein and fibre. I throw salsa at them too for extra flavour. I was a recruiter last go with braces, (yep a lot of face-to-face and telephone talking) and had an expander... took so...

Re: End is looming, concerned...
Appreciate the thoughts y'all! I will definitely be bringing this up, though my gut feel on my ortho, even though he's super-nice, he doesn't like to be questioned. I understand that, he's the trained pro, and only can do so much with what mess each individual brings through genetics etc. I wasn't o...

End is looming, concerned...
Howdy gang, The threat of 'check for deband' at next appointment was made last time and I have a semi-unexpected concern-- on the bottom. Can't believe I'm doing this, but since I've seen folks post pix and poll the group for ideas, what do y'all think of the way my first and second molars are two y...

Re: Braces Again?
Third go here too, early/mid 80s, 1999-2001 and 2011-present. Lower (supposedly) permanent bonded retainer failure made stuff shift and was getting clunky jaw issues. :-( I can tell the technology has improved each time though! I'd much rather have braces than deal with retainers.. In 40s here as we...

Re: All metal or both??
Vetoed awful invisalign and even clear brackets on top. Proudly all-metal still at 42!
I always choose coloured powerchains etc. too! I'm just a big kid still, like to have some fun, and smile as much as possible.

Re: Ever realize how you forget?
The way my bite lines up, I'm guessing it's food more than anything else as I chew the top teeth drive food down onto the top of the chain and ens up wearing through it. I understand more this past couple weeks since I was backpacking and the trail meals included a lot of bars with granola and nuts ...

Re: Ever realize how you forget?
Those are orange elastics, initially I wore these smaller ones in "Class II" configuration.
Past few months I've been in larger diameter "Box Elastics" in the back. Good times!
Enjoy your 'freedom', I'm still torn on mine when it eventually comes...

Re: Ever realize how you forget?
Interesting you'd bring this up Jill, I'm somewhat in this boat... but in sort of the opposite sense. I'm the weird one that loves their braces and was actually happy having them again in most ways more than dealing with retainers. That said, here I am closing in on two years and I'm having issues w...

Re: Can anyone give me tips on Invisalign vs traditional bra
My wife and I (both forty-somethings) in jobs that involve being up front, talking, briefing, presenting etc., both vetoed invisalign even though for us it was the same price. For her, she knew she would be annoyed and just take them out and not progress like she should. Me, well sadly this isn't my...

Re: How many did you do?
More than eight metal spacers the first time in the mid '80s, four upper, four lower. I must have had one of the few old-school orthodontists that was still doing full metal bands on ALL teeth. Friends had colours on ligs and powerchains and mine looked like Ben Stiller's in Something About Mary. Ei...

Re: Does anyone actually have traditional metal braces anymo
My wife and I (42 and 45 years old respectively) both proudly sport all metal 3M smartclip brackets! I just ran into a 30-ish year old girl in another section of our office that was all metal too. I complimented her on joining the 'cool kids' club by going all metal. She said, 'heck yeah', then we s...
