Re: New power chain and wires - OW!

But WOW do they ever work! I moved up to a rectangular wire on the bottoms and a power chain on the front four teeth just yesterday to close up a gap that had been created between the front two. It wasn't a large gap granted, not as big as an extraction gap, but it's closed already!!!! I kind of lik...

Re: Getting my first wire change on monday and have a questi

I can't remember exactly how long it took to adjust to the first wire change but it was certainly less than two weeks. I have just had my second change on the bottoms, this time to a rectangular wire and the first 24 hrs were a bit tense but already it is settling down to bearable. You should be fin...

Re: My Progress in 3 Months...

I too was really surprised at how quickly things started moving. While the alignment of my bottom teeth is much improved in 4 months, I think the bite issues are what will take considerably more time. Still it is very encouraging to see nice, almost, straight teeth already and makes it easier to sti...

Re: Braces since August; new to forum

While I'm not quite 50 yet (but not that far off), I'm following much the same timeline as you. Lower braces on in August and upper in early October. Looking forward to sharing this journey with you!

Re: Nervous/anxious

I had much the same experience with the spacers on my lower teeth, where supposed to be in for a week before the bands went on but as my teeth were so tight it was almost three weeks before they moved enough for the ortho to place the bands. I was worried that this was an indication of how the whole...

Re: One Month In

I didn't really see any change in the first month but about six weeks in I realized the dental floss was slipping between my lower teeth easily. That had never happened before, it was always a real chore to wiggle it in and often resulted in the floss breaking as the teeth were so tight together. I ...

Re: Worried sick about having bite plane...

I started out with a bit plate but it only lasted two weeks! I have to say that I didn't manage very well with it at all. I already have small, narrow arches top and bottom and with the bit plate in there was nowhere for my tongue in my mouth. Eating was a chore too. Had to stick to very soft foods ...

Re: Dry lips

I've had lower metal Damon's on for almost three months now and upper clear for almost one month. I have found my lips to be dry since day one. Somedays it seems to be worse than others. I now have lip balm stashed everywhere I can, on my desk at work, in my purse, next to the bed at home. I have in...

Starting my Journey

Hello! I have been reading this board for a few months and finally managed to get registered (still can't access through my laptop at home though). Have learned lots and really appreciate the more mature viewpoint on this board, so thought I would introduce myself and my story now. I'm 46 yrs old an...
