Re: First adjustment - what can I expect?

My first adjustment was done in December, and honestly I don't remember any pain at all. My ortho changed my arch wires, and put powerchains on. There was a slight discomfort with getting the powerchains put on. But i took a couple of advil prior to the appointment, and was back to eating regular fo...

Re: Muscle Fatigue

Hi Staje,

I experienced muscle fatigue in my jaws when I first received braces. However, mine subsided after a couple of days. If in doubt, I would not hesitate to call my orthodontist with any questions or concerns. Hopefully, yours will go away soon too. :D

Re: Day one!!

I have been braced since November 1, so I am closing in on my 3 month bracerversary . A week into them, I hated them so much that I seriously considered having them removed. I had my second adjustment yesterday, and I can honestly say that there will be times that you will forget that you h...

Re: First "Adjustment/tightening" coming up...

Hi Lux,
I just got my braces tightened last night. My ortho didn't change the arch wire, but I did get powerchains. It wasn't painful at all, just a slight discomfort. Like everyone has said, if you take a couple of Advil prior to your appointment you'll be fine. Good luck :?

Re: Nervous Newbie

I am two weeks in, and I am honestly so glad that I made the decision to do it. The first couple of days were not great, but I got over it. So congrats on your December appointment, you'll have a new smile in no time at all.

Re: Dry lips

Congrats on you braces. I also experience the same thing and no matter how much carmex I applied, it didn't seem to help. I does pass in time though.

Re: New braces

I am two weeks into my braces, and believe me when I tell you that it will get better. It took me an entire week before i would even attempt to eat solid foods, but as i sit here today, i am virtually pain free.

I would definately say #2 or #3. They all sound like they could do a good job though. Keep us posted.

Re: newbie, 32 & still unsure about going ahead with braces.

I completely agree with Gennie 50. Go for it, it's a decision you won't regret. I was braced 10 days ago, and when i wake up most mornings, i forget that I have them.
