I really don't remember when all the swelling dissipated after my SARPE but I do remember that it took a couple of months for the gap to close completely. It started closing right after I stopped turning- it just took some time.

From what I've found anybody who does orthognathic surgery with any regularity and is highly skilled does NOT contract with medical insurance (arnett, wolford, etc.). I had a big bottle of liquid vicodin (hydrocodone) and if that's what you get... just a heads up that it tastes AWFUL! And if you have to do it via syringe like I did because I was banded shut, you can't just chug it to get it over with quickly. It took forever to get it down with the syringe.
