Re: Braces at 31; chocolate's story
Wow, I haven't been on this site in almost two years. I got my uppers out 1 year ago and finally got the lowers out this week. About 4 years total of these things. And now the problem, I am left with an overbite(not overjet) that is deep and you can no longer see my bottom teeth at all when I smile....

Re: Honestly, do you floss?
I used to floss daily in the first two years even though it was very painful at first. I use the floss threaders since I am too cheap to buy a Water Pic and also believe that nothing replaces good old fashioned flossing. After a couple of months it gets faster but still not as fast as it would be wi...

Re: Braces at 31; chocolate's story
Well, I moved back home two months ago and found a new Ortho just this week. He says that I should be done in three to six months. It ended up costing me about $450 more than what it would have cost in my old place. That's fine though because I want these things out by the end of the year. I will be...

Seriously? 7 years? Why don't you insist to have them removed? What's the deal?

Re: Braces at 31; chocolate's story
So here I am at 22 months and I honestly don't think these things will be off in the next 6 weeks. Which is when I am moving back home. Ortho overcorrected the bottom teeth, now they are too far back and we are wearing rubber bands to bring them forward again to meet the top. My bottom midline is st...

Re: THINNING of face during braces
the pictures are not taken at the same distance from the face. That makes a BIG difference with pictures. If you take it too close to your face it will be distorted. Not to mention the fact that you can see more of your face in the first picture also will make it seem like it is a different shape. ...

Re: THINNING of face during braces
The upper extractions where at the beginning of treatment in June of 2010. I started noticing the difference in September or so. The bottom ones where April of 2011. Just wanted to show the proof that yes, it does happen. Not all a myth. Don't truly know if I like it as I miss my rounder face, but o...

Re: Catgyrl's (Cathy's) Journey at age 42...
I have the exact same thing although I don't think it's a problem. I love my big teeth. But I still have quite a bit of an overbite about 4-5 mm although my overjet is gone. I thought about IPR on my front two teeth, but then thought, really, who does that? Is it natural? Well I guess it can be done...

Re: Retracting teeth one at a time?? Question
After the extra gap was made the 4 front ones were pulled together as a unit using rubber bands. Yeah it was an extra step but the results are worth it to me. Otherwise my profile may not have been as different as it is now. All my gaps are closed now, just working on my bite. Now my bottoms are too...

Re: Retracting teeth one at a time?? Question
Yup. That's how mine were done for my big overjet. After my premolars where pulled, we first had to pull the k9's back individually, create another gap and then my front teeth were pulled back together. Doing it one a time means that they move further back instead of trying to do it as a unit. One t...

Re: Braces at 31; chocolate's story
Just had an adjustment yesterday. Have about 7 months left. Ortho banded my last molars on the bottom because there was now a huge space there after moving the rest of the teeth forward. Boy not only are my teeth sore, but my tongue is getting chewed up like when I first got these on 18 months ago. ...
