Re: Braces and Weight Watchers
I had a Tomato Florentine soup that was fantastic about a week or so ago, unfortunately it was in the hospital's cafeteria (where I work) and there's no telling what day they will have it again. I'm trying to hunt down a recipe for it on allrecipes, but I have to admit that I'm not the best cook, so...

Re: How do you keep your teeth looking white?
I didn't get any specific warning about whitening pastes, but have read a few things here. I decided to stick to Crest 3D and I also use AquaFresh Complete. Sometimes I look at my teeth and think dingy, but I'll have to ask the ortho.

Re: Braces and Weight Watchers
The dental stuff has really slowed down my eating (probably a good thing) and it make it unpleasant enough to eat that I find it much easier to keep portions small. I think the trick is not to go on the ice cream and mocha frappachino diet, which would surely make one fat. LOL :-* I can't stop laug...

Re: Feeling a little vain about getting started
Sorry, I don't mean to hijack this thread but I have a question for TMJJill... maybe you would be able to direct me to another post that already answers it? I wasn't able to find one. :) I don't have an answer for TMJ, but have you tried to PM TMJJill?? Or how about posting your story as a new thre...

Re: Feeling a little vain about getting started
I recently found out that my cousin (who I thought had a very nice smile) has invisaligns. Also, two of my co-workers got their braces at the same time I did. So, with a lot of support here and a good look at my own teeth, I've made up my mind that this indeed was the right choice all along.

Re: Braces and Weight Watchers
I can't eat hamburgers in the bun. I have to cut them up, and I eat so slowly now that I'm usually full before finishing the whole burger. I don't even bother with the bun anymore. The same goes for crusty bread...just can't do it so I don't even bother anymore. Meat has to be cut up very small, wh...

Re: First Day...What was I thinking (eating)!?!
Two weeks later, and I just got my spacers (after the braces were put on). I braced (no pun intended) myself for the worse, took 3 Alieve, and went in with the mantra, "it'll only take 5 minutes, it'll only take 5 minutes..." My teeth must really be tight because the poor technician kept a...

FYI if you are a Costco member, I just got my coupon book for February and they are offering $15 off for the Waterpik Combo pack. Perfect timing for me, I just got my braces today! I'll have to talk to a family member for the waterpik. Thanks for the heads up, and congratuations with your new braces.

Re: Hi nice to meet you all
Congratulations Railroad!! No, I don't think you're crazy to be excited. I was staring at myself in the car mirror all the way home, and couldn't wait to text a picture to family.

Re: Braces and Weight Watchers
I had/have the same plan - to use my braces as an opportunity to lose a few pounds. I have had my braces (metal) on for one week and I have lost 4.5 pounds without trying. I did not anticipate having so much difficulty just chewing - even soft foods. I have also been limited to soft foods that I ca...

Re: Braces and Weight Watchers
Maybe you would need to go with soft fruits ? mash the veggies, make soup etc? I have found myself limiting myself to soft foods at the moment! that along with the limiting the snacking has me losing weight anyways without being on any formal diet!! I too am aiming for a whole new me :) good luck T...

Re: Feeling a little vain about getting started
all48, I checked out your braces story, congratulations on taking the plunge and thanks for your support. So far I have not had negative reactions from my co-workers, family or friends about the braces. And I have to say that once the braces were on, the flaws that I saw and others may have perceive...

Re: Braces and Weight Watchers
I have traditional wire braces (don't know if it makes much of a difference vs others), and eating relatively soft items (not the calamari I attemted on day one) makes the wires feel as though they are pulling tighter or trying to buckle. I've stuck to things such as ground beef casserole, yogurt, m...

Braces and Weight Watchers
This is my second week in braces. I will be getting spacers next week followed by upper and lower arch appliances the week after. Before all of this, I read about various "Bracketeers" having to change their diets. Given that, I decided to jump start my total transformation by signing up f...

Re: First Day...What was I thinking (eating)!?!
Do they make a portable WaterPik?? If so, does it work as well as the stationary set, and can you control how much it's spraying? I'm curious
