Re: Sick (as in unwell) a TON sinced being braced

OH, I forgot.... yes, I am going to get tested before too long here for not only latex but nickel, just in case. Mostly b/c all my providers (regular doc, ENT AND ortho) have looked at me as if I were crazy... just want to have objective data. Bubble girl is on the case!

Re: Sick (as in unwell) a TON sinced being braced

OMG, lol! (Sorry for that brief text lingo). Sirwired thanks for the links... what a hoot! I will definitely bring him the print out for the latex-free power chains. I've told my boyfriend, if he comes over one day to find me dead that he is to SUE the pants off this Brat  Perhaps I'll bring th...

Re: Sick (as in unwell) a TON sinced being braced

Well, went to ortho yesterday, and he is a knucklehead. Period. We are leaving the elastics off, as he would "buy" an allergy to those. I think they were left off mostly b/c he couldn't find any latex free elastics. But he would not remove the powerchains. He doesn't see how I can have sys...

Re: Elastics Hook on Inner 4's

Button-free is the way to be! :jump: I had my button removed today (as I said I was going to). But I only had one, and I am in the "Sure Smile" system. The Brat (my ortho) was pleased with the progress my bite is making even w/o elastics which I quite wearing a week ago b/c of a suspected...

I think Snowglobe was responding to BBQgrill's empathic post, sirwired. Cheers!

Re: Elastics Hook on Inner 4's

CoryDaniels: I have had one of those hooks... they call them "buttons" as if they are smooth and round and adorable... for two weeks now. I find it so intolerable that I am going to insist it come out at Tuesdays appointment. It just pushed me over the edge with all this. I am an adult, gi...

Re: Sick (as in unwell) a TON sinced being braced

Oh, and all my practitioners thought I was crazy, btw! While I may be, as a nurse practitioner, I find the body "doesn't lie".

Re: Sick (as in unwell) a TON sinced being braced

Wow, great ideas Klobird and sirwired. I did ask my ortho (and my GP.. AND my ENT) about braces "making you sick", but I didn't think of just being allergic to them period. I go Tuesday, and will be sure to inquire. Cheers!

Re: Smile Lines?

I too had what used to be just the top half of parentheses as smile lines become a full parenthesis on the left. Hopefully, for you young'uns, they will revert back after braces removal to whatever it is you desire. I'm 44, so another half parenthesis is the last of my battles - LOL!

Re: Sick (as in unwell) a TON sinced being braced

Thanks for your kind words, Snowglobe. I pretty much figured they had to have non-latex elastics -- I bet they cost more, or they would use them exclusively. Cheers!

Sick (as in unwell) a TON sinced being braced

Hi. I am new to Archwire, and this is my first post. I have been in Damon brackets (now) using the Sure Smile system for 6.5 months now. I am 44 years old... so I think that impacts my tolerance of this new level of torture :-) I have been sick on FOUR seperate occasions since August (so 4 times in ...
