Re: Ball rolling towards surgery... finally!
Hope it all works well for you! My case is not nearly that severe, but it has been almost 15 years since my first set of braces (four years got me kind of straight, but left an open bite and a bit of recessed appearance to my incisors), and now I too have finally gotten an insurance company that is ...

Re: insurance denied coverage due to age
My parents had BCBS when I was a teenager and they denied coverage of the surgery because it was "cosmetic" even though it is obviously not, since I have never in my life been able to bite normally (6mm open bite). I am 27 now and finally getting the process started thanks to the military,...

Re: Is it really worth it?
Eventually it's up to the individual to decide if it is worth it; my open bite is only 4-6mm and I am going for the surgery, but dreading the process and going under the knife.

Re: bone graft, implants and diet coke
Glad to hear my surgery won't stop my diet coke addiction -- even though I am a bigger fan of the taste of diet pepsi these days, I am so used to asking for and buying diet coke that I am still loyal to the less tasty product!

Re: First Oral Sugury
I'm just wondering what specific pain medications you are referring to? I have had multiple surgeries (haven't had my oral surgery yet -- will probably another 6-8 months), and each time have had horrible reactions to both anesthesia (sp?) and pain medications. I have been violently ill after being ...

Lefort 1 Surgery...just getting started
I just got spacers in today to start my pre-surgery braces. I guess normally I'd be asking questions about the braces in general at this point, but unfortunately this is in fact my second time around with braces... Yep, I had braces for nearly four years when I was in seventh grade through tenth gra...
