Re: Undoing Extractions - My progress so far, with pics!
Hi angryhead, Any more progress pictures? :) I am also trying hard to find an orthodontist who will reverse my extractions after 2 failed treatments with braces.... Also I'd like to ask if your orthodontist is using a functional appliance such as the ALF to expand your upper and lower jaw... Thank you

elastics meanings??
Hello, I'm presently in the last phase of my braces, and I'm wearing elastics in the following manner: from my top canines till my second to last lower molars. They're very tight and I feel some pain. My question is what do these elastics do? do they bring my top or my bottom teeth forward or back?

Re: hello and a question about the effect of headgear on jaw
I am wearing ceramic braces. I only wore the expander for about 2 months. It can work since my arches collapsed after the first time I had braces. What needs to be done specifically in your case will be explained by your ortho. Good luck finding the right one

Re: Functional Orthodontist anyone? Repositioning the lower
Hello In my opinion what you need to do is find a functional orthodontist who has a good experience in using functional appliances and select one to bring your lower jaw forward. Then your jaws should be expanded (with an expander, or a Quad Helix). Do NOT extract teeth. I did it and I regret it so ...

Are you reversing premolar extractions? Update please:)
Hello! I know there have been so many previous posts about reversing premolar extractions, but I'm curious to know your progress! What has been done, what functional appliances are being or were used, how much time did it take and any before and after pics? If still in progress, how is it going so f...

Re: hello and a question about the effect of headgear on jaw
I didn't find any dentist who knows about the ALF appliance or any functional appliance that will reopen the spaces, so I am just expanding my teeth to make my smile wider. The expander will move your teeth sideways and cannot reopen spaces. The ALF will move your teeth forward (if adjusted for this...

Re: How long does each visit to the orthodontist last?
I guess a normal adjustment takes around 20-25 minutes just like the previous poster said... Still I am anxious because I feel little to no pain and I'm beginning to question whether this treatment is right for me....

Re: hello and a question about the effect of headgear on jaw
I'm so glad to have found this post. Like you I had 4 premolars extracted as a teenager and wore headgear for both my upper and my lower jaw! and yes I also noticed that the headgear moves the jaws not only teeth. My chin was more proportionate with my face, now I feel it is a little retruded. I als...

Re: One bracket fell off. Orthodontist says it's ok??
He said as long as the wire is still in its place and the brackets are intact on the teeth surrounding it, it is no problem to leave it without a bracket. I'm afraid I made a bad choice for the second time and I don't know what to do in this situation

Re: One bracket fell off. Orthodontist says it's ok??
I am about 2 months in the treatment. The bracket fell off from the second premolar (I have no first premolar because it was extracted years ago on my first treatment).

One bracket fell off. Orthodontist says it's ok??
One of my brackets fell off while I was eating. I contacted my orthodontist who said it was ok as long it is one bracket, and left it to the next appointment to reapply it, in 4 weeks time! Is that normal?

How long does each visit to the orthodontist last?
I'm braced for the second time. At first I was very happy with my orthodontist, but right now I am noticing that each appointment last for 5 to maximum 10 minutes! Is that enough? I'm afraid I'll be disappointed with the results! How long does your appointment last at each visit?

Expander in, no pain and no pressure?? HELP
In short, my story is that I am about to get braced for the second time, because the first time they had to pull my 4 premolars and retract everything, which resulted in a narrow smile and pushed back lower jaw, so now I found an orthodontist who will expand my arches (to a U shape instead of a V sh...
