Re: January 2013 Buddies
e77-I felt the exact same way with the expander, absolutely hated talking and eating but you are almost through! I had my expander in for about a month after I stopped turning to help my upper arch stay supported, and then the upper braces went on-it was frustrating at times but seemed to get easier...

Re: What about sneezing?
Completely agree, I was really worried about sneezing but after SARPE I was so numb the first few weeks after surgery I didn't really feel the urge to sneeze, and if did I just did it through my mouth.

Re: Brace Yourself
Thank you!! It does feel great to have the braces on and I am so excited! My SARPE wasn't at all as bad as I thought it might be--and only 16 days post-op I'm feeling super! The first 3-4 days were pretty difficult, but the pain was manageable. As long as I kept to my pain med schedule and stayed co...

Re: question about SARPE ,,, please help
SARPE is a really straightforward procedure, but as in any surgery make sure you have a very competent surgeon who you feel confident in and trust. SARPE is not a minor surgery although it is outpatient and you can most likely expect to go home the same day. First you have a palette expander placed ...

Brace Yourself
It's finally here--the day I have been waiting for (and dreading) most of my life--my first official day of braces! When I went to my ortho this morning for a check-up on my Hyrax (palette expander), he said we could put the top braces on TODAY! I still can''t believe it--after all the consu...
