Re: Do teeth move and settle after braces are removed?
You seem to have the problem I used to have after I was debraced. Please read my old posts. My teeth settled and I don't have the problem any longer.

When to Stop Seeing Ortho
It has been over a year since I got debanded. I have to pay $45 as a retention fee whenever I see my ortho now. I feel $45 is too expensive for her-less-than-5 minutes with me. All they do is just checking my permanent retainers. Is there a way I can check them myself?

Re: do teeth or your bite settle/ improve after braces?
My bite absolutely got better after the braces were removed. Initially y molars didn't touch each other comfortably, but they do now. But I cannot tell if the appearance of my teeth has changed.

I soak my Hawleys in The cleaner that starts with the letter P that has been used in spam posts, so it's censored. and brush them every morning. I didn't notice any odor. BTW I wear my retainers only at night.

Re: Retainer Qs
Why do you want to file your teeth? Teeth move to settle after braces are removed. My molars moved after the braces were removed. If you could, I would say wait at least for six months before you have your teeth filed.

Re: Braces off yesterday and Essix retainer
No tips from me. But I understand your stress. It seems that other people on this forum were more relaxed with their retainers, but I could not. I read a lot of people developed cavities while they were going through Invisalign treatment. I think Essix retainers are not that different from Invisalig...

Re: Time Between Debanding & Retainer?
My original plan was to be debanded and get permanent retainers on the same day and come back to get removable retainers on the following day. But I was going out of town the day after the deband day. The ortho office said that I shouldn't go without removable retainers more than a day. They told me...

How? When I began to wear Essix 24/7, I was so glad that I hadn't opted for Invisalign. In my opinion, Essix is like wearing Invisalign.cynthiacharles wrote:the best replacement for this is Invisalign which is much more durable than the Retainers and Braces.

Re: worried about pulling teeth down with braces
Do you have to shave now? Can't you wait a half year or so? In my case, my teeth were pushed down while I was wearing braces. After I began to wear Hawley retainers, they came up a little bit to make my bite better.

Re: How has your routine changed living with retainers...
Living with 24/7 retainers was more difficult for me than living with braces. It took longer to get ready for work in the morning. Time to eat and drink was more limited. At least I didn't worry about when I could have my coffee while I was wearing braces. With retainers, I had to make sure that I h...

Re: Extractions!
I had four premolars and three wisdom teeth removed at once. (Somehow I had only three wisdom teeth.) Unfortunately I don't remember how long it took for me to be able to eat regular food because I had my braces fit in two weeks after the extraction. First I couldn't eat regular food for a while bec...

Re: Permanent Retainers
I wear both. It was a hassle to wear removable retainers 24/7. Now that I wear them only at night, I don't think about them.
