Re: Surgery with Arnett/Gunson scheduled, no insurance. : (

Hi cvn, thank you, sure thing the best is to ask them directly, Im seeing them next month so I will have all these questions answered hopefully.
@Sumertimelove, thank you so much for your feedback too. I will post again when I see Arnett in April to tell you how it went.
Thanks all!

Re: Surgery with Gunson

max, are you gonna have jaw surgery as well? If so I would rather wait and do it all together. If you decided not to go for surgery, then I don't see why you couldn't do the cheek graft while on braces. the nose changes after surgery if you have upper jaw done because when they move the upper jaw th...

Re: Other good surgeons in California??

Hi Cali, My bite is not 100% and I have some TMJ pain on my right side. Im already seeing Arnett / Gunson in April. But since its a looong trip from where Im coming, I was looking to get another opinion by another good surgeon too in the area to know different approaches to my case.

Re: Surgery with Gunson

In my case, my bite is not 100%. I would say its 90%. So either they will say my previous surgery (done by another doctor, not them) was totally crap and tell me do to it all again to fix my bite 100%, or they will say its not bad and braces can fix the rest of it easily. Im seeing them in April. I ...

Re: Other good surgeons in California??

The reason I was looking for Schendel is because I already had jaw surgery, and my bite is not so bad. So maybe a plastic surgeon can address my complains better than a max fac surgeon. But unfortunately none of the offices he works has answered my emails :(

Re: Surgery with Gunson

maxhammer, thanks for the update. Did they suggest you only do the cheeks? Or they gave you both options, jaw surgery + cheeks? How would they do cheeks without surgery? Do you know the price if you only get the cheeks done? One of my complains is the area under my eyes, its a bit flat. Did you see ...

Re: Surgery with Gunson

My nose changed, even with the nasal alar cinch suture done. When Im static, it looks better than before. When I smile, its wider than before :/ that I don't like at all, I don't smile much on pictures, makes my middle face look wider, I really liked my narrow nose. Maybe Arnett / Gunson have anothe...

Other good surgeons in California??

I will see Arnett in April. Since Im coming from another country, I would like to take the chance to see other surgeons in the area too. Does anyone know Stephen Schendel? Is he a good surgeon? Can you recommend any other surgeons in California?

Thank you so much! This forum has helped a lot

Re: Surgery with Arnett/Gunson scheduled, no insurance. : (

Hi Californiakid, thank you so much for all the answers! really helpful Cvn, if you don't mind telling, what went wrong with your first surgeries? Your surgery with Arnett, Gunson, would you say sorted everything? Two years in braces seems a really long time. But maybe this was the problem for me. M...

Re: Surgery with Arnett/Gunson scheduled, no insurance. : (

Hey cvn, have you had surgery with them already? Im coming for an appointment with Dr. Arnett on 4th of April, traveling from abroad just to see him after two orthognathic surgeries also. I wish I had known about them before too. I would have payed happily. I have a few questions if someone could be...

Did you have your plates / screws removed after surgery?

I have not had them removed because of the "possibility" of a redo. When did you have your plates / screws removed?

Re: Upper Jaw surgery only - numbness

The pain is temporary, numbness is likely to be forever. I have numbness on my chin, lips, part of my jaw line, gums, its horrible...every time I move my mouth Im reminded of it, for 4 long years. I try not to think of it too much, definitely something I could have never wished for.

Re: Upper Jaw surgery only - numbness

I had lefort1 4years ago, still can't feel the gums completely, I just got used to it. Its NOTHING compared to the numbness I have on my chin and lips from my lower jaw surgery, you will be ok!

Re: Anyone here had a bad experience/result with jaw surgery

I've also had two surgeries...the first didn't work out, my bite was so bad that the orthodontist said he could not fix with braces only. Also I have permanent numbness on my chin + lips, left cheek. But before you go for surgery you have to sign a paper were you agree that all this can happen durin...
