Re: Getting Started Today

Spacers were the most painful part of the whole process for me (well, so far--I'm almost done!). Good luck and welcome!

Re: First day braces been in 2 hours now!!

This brings back memories. Although I still have braces... I remember when I first got them and how much discomfort I was in. At first, I had very loose teeth, soreness, and pain from poking wires. Now, my teeth are no longer loose, and the soreness is only felt mildly after an adjustment. I rarely ...

Re: Cleaning with Wires in.....

I've only had my teeth cleaned with the wire on. It can be done effectively, although, the hygienist will probably have to work a little (or a lot?) harder. I have had different hygienists clean my teeth while I had braces/wires on, and I must say that some are WAY better than others at it. Every cl...

Re: Baby tooth causing crowding

Weird that they kept it. Before I got my braces they pulled all my baby teeth. I still had 5 in there at the age of 24! Wow 5 is a lot! And I thought I was special because I had 1... it's great finding others I have this in common with, though. As for me, they pulled my baby tooth, but it was close...

Re: How long did you have to wear elastics?

I wore elastics for a few months at the beginning of my braces process--they were placed on the hooks of the backs of my top row of teeth, and connected to the outside hooks of the bottom row of teeth to correct a slight crossbite. Now that my treatment is almost over, my ortho has given my the elas...

My Braces Journey is Almost Over, But My Blog Isn't

Hello! Even though my braces treatment is almost over, I started this blog to share my journey--past and present... other than updates, this blog also has: tips/ information, random thoughts, product reviews, fun stuff... and everything is braces related. So if you're looking to hear the story of so...

Re: adding elastics are like braces^2

I wore elastics mostly at the begining of my treatment, and a little during the middle. And just when I thought I was done with them... here I am again back in them :( They usually cause me pain for about a week, and then after that, they are just a nuisance.

My orthodontist once had a patient that was 80 years young! You're never too old to have a beautiful smile :D

You're lucky-- my molar bands were pressed onto my teeth (real hard), because mine are tight together. Congrats!

Re: Braces in 4 days at the age of 26 and scared

To answer your question about the spacers... I had them and I couldn't eat much (well, if it required using my teeth to chew) without feeling major pain... I was limited to soups... so I say, if you can eat without the pain, go ahead. My orthodontist said I could eat whatever was comfortable for me ...

Re: What do you miss eating?

When I first got my braces, it was really hard to eat a lot of things. I know I'm bad, but I do cheat sometimes... I am careful when I do though. Like others here have said, you can kind of soften up certain hard foods in your mouth. Till this day (my braces treatment is almost over), I cannot bite ...

Re: Gaps appearing everywhere?!

It appears to me that your front gap closed and then you were left with the new gaps on the other sides of those teeth? Sometimes in orthodontic treatment, once a gap is closed, another (or several others) may be created. You get the gaps because your teeth are moving into position... there were lot...

New Here

Hello. I do not have kids with braces, but I do have a question in regards to this subject. My 2 daughters are about ready for braces... one of them has really good dental hygeine, while the other does not. I have braces, so I know how much more work it is to keep your teeth clean with them on. My d...
