I think the figure 8's are for pesky teeth that wouldn't stay attached to the wire with the usual circle pattern. I have 8's on all my corner teeth that are twisted around more than the others. I find that it sometimes hurts when they are putting on the ligs - depending on the tooth and it's situat...

I have pictures of all my lig colors on my braces blog (see WWW link below). I'm having my next adjustment this afternoon. I thought about getting dark green for Christmas, but after seeing the nice combination of two greens I may go for something like that, too. Swan, I visited your web page. Ques...

When you change orthos

I have to admit that I've been wondering - especially after this oops - has anyone ever switched orthos? I'm paying for all this out of pocket, so I'd rather not double my "investment". Do you keep paying the old one and start paying the new one, too? Before I got the braces on, I asked m...

While there, I found out why it hurt so much - the back gap, that's almost two teeth wide, was being bridged by just a little 2 link powerchain! Oh my goodness, Mona! The pain must have been great. This wasn't only a pain issue or a "going backwards instead of progressing" issue, ...

Bwahahaha! What a fun idea. :-*

Nov 16th adjustment

(Hi Karen!) Power chains on each side. Teeth sore. Since I may be eating soft food for a while, I'm glad that the big Thanksgiving Day dinner is 8 days away and not tomorrow. I asked for yellow, orange and brown ligs. The lady said they didn't have brown - how about just yellow and orange. Okay. But...

Haven't posted for a while

First of all, sorry that I still have no photos to share. I do so enjoy the photos that other people post. Mine look quite lousy. I'm still going to ortho every 2 weeks. The anchored tooth on the left that was hurting is still hurting with mildly hot and cold food and drink. I had a root canal done ...

Good morning, Karen

Great news Jean ... hope your tooth is fine and excellent they've been able to make your bands more comfortable! Love the sound of orange for October! Good luck  I like to have fun with this experience. Anyhow, since the braces are on my lower arch only, they don't show a whole l...

Re Pics

I liked reading your story, it would be cool if you had pictures to share too :) Hi CelestialVoices! I like to see people's pics, too. I have been taking some along the way - though they haven't been turning out as nicely as most of the ones that people post. I had a go at putting some up on Monday...

Wax

I am 53 and have lower arch braces, too!

They make me lisp on "s". I put some wax on them the other day. I put the wax so as to fill up the gap between the wire and the teeth - inferior to the brackets and wire. It seemed to help somewhat.

What is the correct term?

In another thread I was trying to refer to this and I don't know what the right word is... On the bands on the molars on the side near the cheek, there is stuff; and on the side near the tongue, there is stuff. What are the words to reference these sides? If I use "'inside' or 'outside' of the ...

Your own ligs?

Could be the tech just forgot... I got home one time to find that a bracket just in front of the molar bands had no ligature. I called to ask and she said, "whoops... can you come back in?" Thankfully, I had some ligs I'd gotten from them just before a big trip so I didn't have to drive b...

Today's appointment

I asked the ortho if the [such a strong] toothache and pain when drinking even room-temp drinks are appropriate. He said that the hot-cold sounds like maybe a "root-canal" in the offing. Anyhow, he released the pressure on that banded tooth and so we are going to see if 2 weeks of no pushi...
