Re: has anyone here with silver fillings gotten sick from br
I have at least 7 or 8 amalgam fillings, and I've had no issues 7 months in. However, if you believe that dental amalgam can make you sick, then you will likely feel sick with braces - the mind and the placebo effect are powerful things

I'm 36 as well and have had the bite buildups for 7 months now... you will totally get used to it and they will wear down. The less you think about it the quicker you'll forget about it. Hang in there!

Re: Satisfactory Result? Opinions Please!
I'm no professional, but even I could tell that your incisor needs more rotation (the root must be going way off to the side - did you notice this on your xrays?). Good to see your new Ortho has positioned the bracket to rotate it properly (you can tell by the angle of the bracket).

Re: Blame it on the alcohol
I'm 4 months into my braces and haven't changed my eating/drinking habits one bit... I eat nuts, drink soda (although sugar free), chew gum, whatever... no problems so far, and every time I get my archwire changed they give me a 10/10 for teeth hygiene...

Re: For those getting braced after 35-what are your motivati
I'm 36 and my motivation is pretty much the same as yours... I did have some very minor alignment/TMJ issues, but it was mostly cosmetic for me... the crazy thing is my kids (3 and 1) will never remember me with a space in my teeth!

Re: How does rotating the teeth really work?
I had to rotate a bicuspid (the 'small molars'), and my ortho did it just be using damon brackets - nothing else. In 4 months it's pretty much rotated 90 degrees....

Your 'diet' sounds like mine! I usually have a smoothie for breakfast (frozen banana, frozen strawberry, pineapple juice, frozen yogurt, coconut), followed by soup and a yogurt for lunch. Yesterday for dinner I managed a bbq'd chicken breast and some baked potato wedges. I'm finding that I'm compell...

Re: Braces at 35!
VioletJay, how's it going for you so far? I don't have any pain with the Damon brackets - just some sensitivity if I push on certain teeth...
Scully, I'm with ya - I'd like to lose about 10lbs, so I figure these bit blocks will be a big help. lol

Braces at 35!
Hi all, Have had my braces on for 4 days now; Damon brackets, clear on top, metal on bottom. Scheduled to have them on for 14 months. So far, so good with the exception of being able to chew - they put the composite build-ups (nubs) so that my teeth wouldn't hit the brackets on the front... Anyhow, ...
