Re: Braces @ 32 with future jaw surgery
Hi all My journey is nearing its end- I went to the orthodontist yesterday and she said I am ready to be de-braced. After my surgery I saw my orthodontist from week 3 post op every week for about 6 weeks and then I went on holiday for 2 weeks. The last appointment before my holiday was an improvemen...

Re: How Long Off Work?
In the end I had 4 weeks signed off work- 2 initially from the hospital after the surgery and 2 after I visited my GP.

Re: Deep bite correction, from Italy
Ciao Marco My pain has subsided too, I supposed I just had to get used to it. I wear double elastics at night so I'm a bit sore in the mornings. Have you asked your ortho for an expected end date? I'm just going with the flow, my ortho said I should be in braces for 18 months before surgery, it was ...

Re: July Surgery Group??
I don't believe that my surgery is a temporary solution. My lower jaw was cut, moved forward and held in place with screws and plates, I don't believe that it will reverse itself. Whilst what you say about upper jaw expansion may be correct, in my case I didnt need any thing done to my upper jaw. I ...

Re: Deep bite correction, from Italy
Ciao Concorde I've followed your thread for a while, I've just started wearing elastics after more than 2,5 years in braces without them and after lower jaw surgery. I really feel for you and that elastic formation you have. Does it get better? My teeth are so sore, I have to double up at night and ...

Re: Braces @ 32 with future jaw surgery
7 and 8 days after BSSO. Double box formation elastics- heavy and annoying and really restricted mouth opening and speech. 3 of them snapped before my appointment to see my orthodontist- they had been fitted at an appointment I had at the hospital where my operation had been. 10July (2).JPG 11July (...

Re: July Surgery Group??
Hi all; I just posted some photos and wanted to keep you updated. I'm 23 days post-op and all is going very well. I am signed off work until 1st August and my energy levels are getting back to normal. I am still on a fork mashable diet. I saw my orthodontist for the first time on the 22nd and she di...

Re: June surgery buddies 2014
Hi Hostet25 I have posted my updates and some photos on the July Surgery thread. My lower jaw was brought forward by 10mm. Quick recap, it has been a very good recovery, very little yellow bruising on jawline and neck. The huge swelling went down after about 10 days. My mouth was very sore, opening ...

Re: July Surgery Group??
Hi lizzybear22 The follow up was good, saw my surgeon and he was happy with the results and my incision points are healing nicely. I have to go again 20th August for the next follow up. As my orthodontist is not in town until 22nd July I was told to tell the hospital so I could see one of theirs. I ...

Re: How Long Off Work?
Hi Sparkles, I had BSSO on the NHS on 2nd July and the hospital signed me off work for 2 weeks. I had an overnight stay at the hospital and huge swelling which was the worse the first few days. I had a little bruising on my jawline and neck. I had a liquid diet for a week (make sure you get to see a...
