Re: Rectangular wires

Im a Mechanical Engineer to trade - the 0.007" possible increase in thickness is tiny. A human fingernail is 0.015" thick. 0,007 inches is 0.18mm.

And yes, orthodontic parts must be made in USA, which is the only country on earth to still use inches.

Re: Getting out early

Thanks for replies again. Definitely a quandary to be in. Obviously I am a bit stressed thinking I've just overloaded myself with burdens this year - I've just booked a holiday for the end of June, I'm under investigation for blood pressure issues, work as always and topped off with my brace. I also...

Re: Braces on front 6 teeth

Hello.

I got a brace fitted to front 8 teeth on March 20th 2012.
This is to correct alignment of my front four teeth. The most annoying brackets for me are on the two canines, so I think brackets on 6 teeth will be much the same as mine. Est time is 9 months for me too.

Cheers

Re: Getting out early

Thanks for the replies. One further question though: what happens when my teeth are finally straight? I think they fit a different type of wire to start the setting process. I think my teeth will be straight in maybe 2 weeks but I don't have another appointment for 6.5 weeks - should I schedule anot...

Re: Braces off early

you will still have to finish making your payments until you're all paid off I concur with this statement! I think "winding up" treatment means they put on a different type of wire which holds the teeth for 90 days so they "set". So if you and your Orthodontist are happy with re...

Re: My braces weight loss story

Hello.
I've had a top brace for 9 weeks. I was around 188 lbs when I started and now I am 182 lbs. At 5'10.5" this is the lightest I have been since 2006.
I think it is slight stress which has made me eat a lot less although I am also in the process of cutting down on beers!

Re: Full Metal Bracket Nightmare

As per above post I have found ceramic brackets quite nasty too. I was surprised at how "scratchy" they were. As an engineer to trade I think they are very poorly made and designed, although it is probably a factor of the material. Anyway, I find the scratchiness improves over time, defini...

Getting out early

Hello. I am looking for some advice on how to shorten my brace duration, maybe even quit. I had an eight tooth brace fitted nine weeks ago on the top - with very sharp and uncomfortable ceramic white brackets which were majorly unexpected - I thought they would be smooth and rounded little bumps... ...

Re: Braces off early

Hello! I think, because you are happy with the results so far, and if your parents are agreed, you should insist your Orthodontist winds up the treatment. Although he/she is looking after you and your teeth first, he/she is also a business trying to make money and has an interest in keeping the trea...

Re: Photos - Day 4 and Day 12.. Slight Progress!!

Ouch! 26 months?
I've got an eight tooth brace on the top only - for nine months. I only have a problem with my top front 4 - the right main incisor mainly which is pressed back in.
I took a bite into some plasticine before they were fitted and kept it. It seems a good way to measure progress.
