I have white spots on my front two teeth. My dentist told me it was due to my mother being sick with a high fever when she was pregnant with me. Same thing has happened to my son. When I was pregnant with him I had a kidney infection with a very high fever, and he now has the dreaded white spots on ...

How can a person go without chocolate? It is a daily staple of my life!!! Even my son's doctor ( a neurologist) says that people, children especially should have some chocolate each day!!

I'd be careful with the caramel. Don't chew, just let it melt in your mouth! :D

Crossbite question

I have been in braces for 14 months, and am scheduled for 30 months. At my last adjustment, my ortho said that my teeth are in place, and at the next adjustment he would start to work on my crossbite. Does that mean I have an expander in my future? And, exactly what kinds of expanders are there? Gar...

I was grinding my teeth as well. At a cleaning I was telling my dentist that my back teeth were really sore. He told me it was partly from grinding, but more from my cross bite. I asked what was involved to fix it and he referred me to an orthodontist. I honestly thought the ortho would say that I o...

I would have to agree. My upper ceramics don't catch near as much as my bottom metals. I keep a toothbrush in my purse, in my desk at work and my waterpik is my best friend! It is an awful feeling and I have learned to stay away from certain foods and I don't bite into things. :-}

I started with powerchains last summer, and I agree they close everything up and make your teeth look great. It is now March, and I still have powerchains. At each adjustment the ortho shifts them to close another gap that was created by closing the previous gap...and so on and so on. Feels like it ...

I stayed with clear or pearl ligs on my ceramics for a year. At my year anniversary adjustment, my ortho said to put wire ties on..I won't go back!!!! Even thought the power chain is clear, and somewhat stained, it is not nearly as noticeable as the clear, stained ligs! I really like the wire ties! ...

I found my bottom to be much more painful, however, it was mainly my molars that had to be rotated back into the right position. Once my ortho got them straight, my bottoms have not hurt at all.

You will wake up one morning and you will feel better. And as everyone has said, it is about two weeks. Then after that you just get used to having everything in your mouth. It is like your brain just resigns and says OK, gotta deal with this. After the intial two weeks, I have never had to deal wit...

I am coming up on my year anniversary with braces. When I look back at this time last year, I was REALLY nervous, felt guilty because of the amount of money I was spending on myself and thinking do I really need to do this. I am so pleased with my progress and the courage it takes to be 37, and be a...

When we initially found out she was tounge tied she was about 3 years old. (I know, hard to imagine we didn't know until then. She had a lot of other problems at birth, so looking under her tounge was the least of our worries) At that point, our dentist didn't think it was too bad and there was no w...

My daughter who was 8 at the time was tounge tied. Our dentist said it was the worst case he had ever seen. Not only was it to the tip of her tounge, it was webbed underneath. The frenulum was so tight that it was pulling on the back of her teeth. He said that if she didn't have surgery it was possi...
