I have the same configuration right now. It is fixing a cross bite. At first I kept biting through the elastic, but after awhile it stops. Just keep wearing them!

I personally like the silver. I have wire ties on my ceramics so even with the tooth or clear colored you still see the metal from the wire ties. I have been with silver for about 6 months and doubt if I will switch back to clear.

My ortho has been trying to close my premolar extraction for about 6 months. It just doesn't want to budge. Just like others have said, just reading your post made my stomach drop. I am so happy for you that everything is okay. After you experience something like that it really makes you look at things differently!

lots of yogurt and oatmeal...chefboyardee for lunch...overcooked noodles with parmesan...by the 2nd or 3rd day I could eat a McDonalds cheeseburger...by the weekend after getting my braces I fixed a chicken stew which everything was really soft

The assistant should have known better. Do you always have the same assistant? If you do next time if you still have the expander tell her that it needs to stay in place...that it is cemented in and it doesn't come out. Or, maybe you should have your ortho call the dentist's office and let them know...
