When I had my braces I ate anything I wanted except just adjusted how I ate it. One time we had just had a pig butchered and so we had fresh cracklins. I couldn't resist and ate a ton of those...never broke anything.

I think you can go any color you want. I don't think there is or should be any rule saying if you are an adult you have to go with boring silver. When I had my braces I always wore colors. My favorite was the dark jelly green color.

My thought is that if you doublestacked and overcorrected then your ortho should have told you to lay off the elastics and then remove your braces when the bite was correct.
