Re: Braces & bruxism
I suffered from bruxism for over 20 years - including horrible pain, root canals, broken teeth, ugggh... I spent $$$ on nightguards, and they protected the enamel but they made me clench even more and I hated wearing them. Then I discovered the SleepGuard biofeedback headband. Wow. Now I have NO pai...

Re: Does anyone actually have traditional metal braces anymo
My dentist told me all metal were the most effective. My ortho said all metal were effective and less expensive. I have seen discoloration on other people's ceramic braces, and I like how I can keep my metal braces shiny and clean! (I also brush with baking soda and rinse with hydrogen peroxide to k...

Re: Jaw clenching at night??
I have lots of jaw clenching problems. The best resource I have found is at www.stopgrinding.com - there's a really good free e-book about clenching and grinding causes and treatments. That website also sells a biofeedback headband, which has honestly changed my life - I used to live in constant pai...

Re: Eating habits with braces!
I'm not a dietician so I won't give any advice regarding diabetes, but with braces I can still eat healthy low glyemic foods like: Black beans, lentils, tofu, salmon, oatmeal, all fruits and vegetables, brown rice, quinoa, almond butter. Healthy foods I cannot eat are raw nuts, granola, raw hard veg...

Re: Custom nightguard to fit over my braces
Thanks for all the feedback. Good news is that I went to the ortho yesterday, who allayed all my fears - he and the assistant told me that bites always shift around with orthodontia and using braces and elastics, they will ensure my bite is perfect. Just like all of you were saying! So, while it fee...

Re: Eating habits with braces!
I am so jealous... I was sticking to soft foods but had a craving for kettle chips... And a bracket slipped right off. I can't get it fixed until Monday. I would like to say it was the Waterpik but it probably was the chips.

Thanks for replying.
What is the purpose of elastics?
How will my bite be fixed? Do you know?

Custom nightguard to fit over my braces - DRAMA
OK so now I'm super  and  At my second adjustment last week, my ortho looked at my bite and told me that I can't wear the nightguard anymore - my bite is so screwed up by the nightguard that a number of my teeth can't touch anymore. I had heard about the dangers of a nightguard that block...

Re: Movement in only one month!
If your teeth are loose I bet they're moving a lot... it's just hard to see it sometimes, since you look at your teeth everyday. I'm hoping for the best!

Re: For those getting braced after 35-what are your motivati
I got braced at 38. My misaligned bite might be contributing to my bruxism (clenching/grinding), and my misaligned bottom teeth were wearing down the inside of my top front teeth. I guess I decided it was time to take care of myself and save my teeth. Also, the problem would just get worse with age....

Re: Questions on brushing programming/electric brushes
I have an elaborate description of my nightly oral hygiene on my blog at http://www.sevinsense.com. All you need to do to add baking soda to your routine is to sprinkle baking soda on your toothbrush and brush normally for 30-60 seconds; as you'll read on my blog, I do this first before everything ...
